Kelcy's is seeking a reliable, versatile Line Cook for our family run restaurant. You must be able to multitask and work different stations simultaneously. Kitchen managers with line experience are invited to apply as well, with salary open for negotiation. Duties include making recipes from scratch, stocking the line, walk in fridge, and prep freezer for the next shift, keeping a clean and organized kitchen, strictly following safe food handling procedures, and of course, preparing menu items. This job requires all around competence. Most evenings you will be the only cook in the kitchen. Our menu is extensive but the techniques are not complicated. We serve traditional diner classics along with fresh California fare, Mexican entrees, steaks and broasted (pressure fried) chicken, vegetarian and vegan options. Cooks are encouraged to develop their own daily specials, using ingredients on hand. You should enjoy preparing delicious meals and using your creativity to offer off-menu specials. Virtually everything at Kelcy's is made from scratch. Safety and great tasting quality food are #1. We are an old school family oriented restaurant. Our open kitchen allows friendly interaction between cooks and customers. Teamwork and the willingness to pitch in where needed is the norm - Our staff and customers are great.

The ideal candidate will have:

Minimum three years all around line cook experience Self - pride & motivation to do an excellent job Cheerfulness and an ability to stay positive under pressure Ability to shift into high gear during busy periods, and prep recipes during slower periods. Desire to provide customers with a delicious "home cooked" meal, attractively plated. A desire for steady, long term employment. Bilingual English/Spanish & Catering experience are both a plus. Salary DOE & Work Ethic. Salary review after 45 days. Hours will mainly be evenings, Wednesday - Saturday afternoons/nights. Some Saturday, Sunday and weekday daytime shifts may be required.
