We are seeking team members who can work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment while maintaining consistency, quality, cleanliness, and food safety. Our kitchen will serve a broad menu including appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, pasta, Mexican dishes, and taphouse specialties. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows recipes and procedures, communicates well with the team, and understands the importance of getting food out quickly and correctly. Responsibilities Prepare and cook menu items according to Vallejo Taphouse recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines Work assigned stations including grill, fryer, sauté, pizza, prep, and other kitchen positions as needed Complete daily food preparation including cutting, portioning, marinating, labeling, and stocking ingredients Maintain proper ticket times while ensuring food quality and accuracy Follow recipes consistently and communicate any shortages, quality issues, or equipment problems to management Keep workstations clean, organized, stocked, and ready for service Properly rotate, label, date, and store food using FIFO procedures Follow all food safety, sanitation, and temperature-control requirements Prevent cross-contamination and follow proper food-handling procedures Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food deliveries Minimize food waste through proper portioning, storage, and handling Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and kitchen side-work duties Work closely with other cooks, dishwashers, servers, bartenders, and management to keep service running smoothly Maintain a professional, respectful, and team-oriented work environment Qualifications Previous line cook, prep cook, restaurant kitchen, or food-service experience preferred Experience in a high-volume restaurant kitchen is a plus Ability to work grill, fryer, sauté, pizza, or multiple stations is highly desirable Ability to follow recipes and portion standards consistently Basic knife skills and food preparation knowledge Understanding of proper food storage, sanitation, and kitchen safety Ability to work quickly and accurately during busy service periods Strong communication and teamwork skills Dependable, punctual, and able to follow direction Ability to stand for extended periods and perform normal kitchen duties, including lifting and carrying food, cookware, and supplies California Food Handler Card required or must be obtained as required Availability We are looking for candidates with flexible availability, including: Days Evenings Weekends Holidays Opening and closing shifts Weekend availability is especially important.
