The Nevada Community School District is seeking a dedicated and dependable Kitchen Manager/Lead Cook to join our Food Service team. This position plays a vital role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals to students and staff while ensuring a safe, efficient, and positive kitchen environment.

Under the direction of the Food Service Director, the Kitchen Manager/Lead Cook oversees daily kitchen operations, supervises food service staff, and ensures the preparation and service of nutritious meals that meet USDA guidelines. This position is responsible for maintaining food safety standards, managing kitchen operations efficiently, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Supervise and train kitchen staff in the safe and efficient use of kitchen equipment.
Plan and coordinate daily work schedules for kitchen personnel.
Direct and participate in food preparation and meal service.
Ensure compliance with USDA regulations, HACCP procedures, and district food safety standards.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
Verify food and supply deliveries and maintain accurate records.
Complete daily food production records and annual inventory requirements.
Monitor food quality, appearance, and portion control.
Report equipment repairs, accidents, and food quality concerns to the Food Service Director.
Assist with securing kitchen and storage areas.
Cross-train staff and develop team members to assume leadership responsibilities when needed.
Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous food service or supervisory experience preferred, but not required.
ServSafe Certification required (or ability to obtain certification).
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and administration.
