Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team at Elliott County Primary. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our students, ensuring that all food safety and sanitation guidelines are followed. The Cook will work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to create a positive dining experience while promoting healthy eating habits among our young learners. Responsibilities Prepare and cook a variety of meals, including breakfast, lunch, and snacks, following established menus and recipes. Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen. Monitor food inventory and assist with ordering supplies as needed. Maintain accurate records of food preparation, portion sizes, and waste. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service and timely delivery of food. Train and supervise kitchen staff and volunteers as needed. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge. Ensure proper storage of food items to minimize waste and maintain freshness. Respond to and address any dietary concerns or special requests from students and staff. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent; culinary training or experience in a school or institutional setting preferred. Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Ability to prepare meals in large quantities while maintaining quality and presentation. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as needed. Certification in food safety or willingness to obtain certification within the first 90 days of employment.
