JOB DESCRIPTION
Prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned school site. Assist in other food preparation duties as directed. Maintain facilities in a clean and sanitary condition. DUTIES
  • Assist in determining appropriate quantity of food items for cooking and baking. Adjust and extend recipes as needed. Maintain food quality standards including appearance and nutritional requirements.
  • Monitor temperatures of food to assure safety and quality standards are met
  • Clean equipment, utensils and appliances. Store food supplies according to industry standards. Assure compliance with kitchen sanitation and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Utilize proper methods of handling food
  • Assist in storing unused food and supplies. Dispose of unusable leftovers
  • Record amounts of food served, assist with inventory and maintain routine production records as directed.
  • Maintain a current serv safe certificate. Training and test will be provided
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Fill out weekly timesheet accurately and submit to kitchen manager
  • Perform related duties as assigned
  • Attends in person training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise
  • Reports equipment failure to cafeteria manager
  • Performs job activities in a timely and efficient manner
  • Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements
  • Models non- discriminatory practices in all activities
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
KNOWLEDGE OF
  • Principles and methods of quantity food service preparation, serving and storing.
  • Sanitation and safety practices related to handling, cooking, baking and serving food
  • Methods of preparing and serving food in large quantities
  • Proper methods of storing equipment, materials and supplies
  • Methods of adjusting and extending recipes and proper substitutions
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Basic record keeping
  • Basic math and cashiering skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking
  • Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
  • Requires bending, squatting, climbing, reaching Requires the ability to lift, carry push/pull weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing.
  • Attends in person training to improve skills and knowledge of job expertise
  • Reports equipment failure to cafeteria manager
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Candidate must possess any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school. Experience and proficiency in quantity food service functions are preferred.
