We are launching a brand-new stationary food truck (trailer) along with a gourmet deli and creamery market in East Jordan, MI. We are looking for an experienced cook who will help lead the daily operations of the food truck opening this October. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading and mentoring, passionate about cooking fresh quality food, and is excited to collaborate with new global fusion menu items. The right candidate will be given an opportunity to help lead and shape a growing operation as well as creative input on rotating menu items and specials. We are truly passionate about creating a fun workplace while protecting your work-life balance. Job Responsibilities Manage daily food truck operations. Familiarity with various cooking techniques. Complete food prep. Monitor inventory and assist with ordering and supply management. Properly store and label food products. Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe kitchen environment. Help with training and mentoring other team members. Set up and break down the truck for service. Assist in other departments, as needed. Other responsibilities as needed. Additional Job Requirements 3+ years kitchen experience. ServeSafe Manager certification, required. Ability to manage a small kitchen independently during service if needed. Strong organization and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and stand for extended periods. Very reliable, responsible, and self-motivated. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Extended hours may be required during peak periods and special events. Frequent or continual movement from place to place with normal physical mobility, managing tasks throughout the property and in potentially inclement weather conditions. Regularly lift, carry and put away items weighing up to 60 lbs unassisted and occasionally lift and carry heavier items and/or assist others in lifting heavier objects, as job demands. Walk and/or stand for extended periods in addition to other prolonged physical exertions including seeing, hearing, reaching, grasping, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, crouching, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas may be required The food trailer will be open year round and you must be able to handle the different weather fluctuations. The comfort of our team is very important to us, but this is our first year and we will need someone who is resilient and can handle the volatileness while in the process of making adjustments. Overtime hours during peak months. Pay based on experience.
