Do you love creating great food and being part of a team? Are you someone who takes pride in serving delicious, high-quality meals and making sure every plate is prepared with care?
Creative Dining Services is looking for a Part-Time Cook to join our team at Kirtland Community College in Grayling, Michigan!
As a Cook, you'll play an important role in creating a positive dining experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests. You'll work alongside a supportive culinary team to prepare fresh, flavorful food while maintaining the highest standards for quality, safety, and sanitation.
If you're dependable, team-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, we'd love to have you on our team!
What You'll DoPrepare delicious, high-quality food according to established recipes and menus.
Time food production so meals are fresh and ready when service begins.
Use batch cooking techniques to maintain freshness and minimize food waste.
Properly season, prepare, portion, and present food to established standards.
Follow safe food handling practices at all times.
Maintain proper food temperatures and follow food safety procedures.
Label, date, store, and rotate food according to established standards.
Complete required production and temperature logs.
Keep the kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and sanitary.
Follow all safety procedures and use protective equipment when needed.
Monitor kitchen equipment and report any issues promptly.
Assist with opening and/or closing the kitchen when required.
Help with inventory, ordering, stocking, and pulling supplies.
Remove refuse and help keep the kitchen and storage areas organized.
Communicate food production needs, concerns, and equipment issues to management.
Support your fellow team members and jump in wherever needed to keep the kitchen running smoothly.
Contribute to a positive, respectful, and team-focused work environment.
What We're Looking ForThe ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in their work and understands that great food starts with great teamwork!
We're looking for someone who has:
At least 2 years of cooking experience preferred.
A passion for preparing and serving quality food.
The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Dependability and a positive attitude.
Attention to detail and a commitment to food safety.
The ability to follow recipes, menus, and established procedures.
A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
ServSafe Certification preferred/required as applicable.
