Cook Baptist Homes of Ashland Ashland, MO Job Details Part-time | Full-time 3 days ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance 403(b) Referral program Qualifications Pre-cooking preparation Teamwork Safety equipment Full Job Description This Cook is responsible for preparing and serving nutritionally balanced meals in accordance with physician orders, therapeutic diet requirements, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. The cook ensures food quality, safety, sanitation, and resident satisfaction in both assisted living and skilled nursing settings. Prepare meals and snacks according to planned menus and standardized recipes. Follow therapeutic diet orders (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, renal, mechanical soft, pureed). Ensure proper portion control and attractive presentation. Assist with special events and modified menus as needed. Prepare texture-modified and thickened liquid diets as ordered. Maintain kitchen cleanliness in accordance with state regulations and facility policy. Follow food safety and infection control standards (including proper hand hygiene and glove use) Monitor and document food temperatures (cooking, holding, cooling, and refrigeration). Properly label, date, and store food items. comply with local health department standards and survey requirements. Follow guidelines set by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. Support compliance with OBRA regulations in skilled nursing settings. Participate in state survey readiness activities. Work cooperatively with dietary staff, nursing staff, and administration. Communicate resident dietary concerns to Dietary Manager. Accept and follow supervisory direction. Complete required temperature logs and cleaning schedules. Report equipment malfunction or food shortages promptly. Prior experience in institutional, healthcare, or large-quantity food preparation preferred. Experience with therapeutic diets strongly preferred for skilled nursing facilities. Knowledge of safe food handling procedures. Understanding of therapeutic and modified diets. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to stand for extended periods. Lift up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching. Exposure to heat, steam, and kitchen equipment.
