Job Summary First Class Fleet is seeking an Automotive Detailer to join our Quality Control Department. This is an entry-level position responsible for preparing primarily new fleet vehicles for customer delivery. Previous professional detailing experience is not required . Training is provided. Detailers complete interior and exterior vehicle preparation, maintain a customer-ready standard, identify concerns discovered during detailing, and work with QC Inspectors to keep vehicles moving through the operation. This is more than a vehicle-washing position. Detailers are part of the Quality Control process and are responsible for the quality of the vehicle they hand off. Our operation can be fast-paced and high-volume. Quality comes first , while employees are expected to develop the efficiency needed to meet production and delivery deadlines. Key Responsibilities Complete interior and exterior vehicle details. Vacuum and clean vehicle interiors. Clean windows, glass, dashboards, panels, consoles, doors, and other interior surfaces. Wash and prepare vehicle exteriors. Clean tires and exterior surfaces. Remove required stickers, adhesive, and residue. Safely use professional detailing chemicals and equipment. Operate pressure washers, vacuums, buffers/polishers, and other professional detailing equipment. Perform buffing, polishing, and minor paint correction within department standards and training. Prepare primarily new fleet vehicles and occasional company vehicles for customer-ready condition. Drive vehicles into and out of wash bays and assigned work areas. Inspect completed work before releasing the vehicle to final QC. Identify damage, paint concerns, missing items, defects, or other problems discovered during detailing. Document and communicate concerns to QC Inspectors and/or QC management. Maintain detailing equipment, supplies, and work areas. Communicate vehicle status and incomplete work clearly. Assist with inspection or other QC functions when trained and needed. Support high-volume and priority vehicles as assigned. Safely operate and move company and customer vehicles. Assist with reasonable operational tasks within or outside the department when additional support is needed. Follow established QC procedures and Standard Operating Procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs. Vehicle Finish Standard Vehicles should leave Detail clean, professional, and ready for final QC . Employees are responsible for checking their own finished work before releasing a vehicle. This includes interior cleanliness, glass, wipe-downs, exterior surfaces, tires, required sticker/residue removal, and overall presentation. Exterior processes may be adjusted when weather conditions prevent normal washing or finishing procedures. Qualifications Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. High school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a background check. Reliable attendance and punctuality. Strong attention to detail. Clear communication. Ability to follow procedures and apply training. Ability to take direction and accept feedback. Ability to work independently after training and as part of a team. Ability to maintain quality while working at a productive pace. Comfortable driving a variety of passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, SUVs, and fleet vehicles. Ability to adapt as workload and priorities change. Professional attitude and respect for customer and company vehicles. Previous automotive or professional detailing experience is welcome but not required . Physical & Work Environment Requirements Candidates must be able to: Walk and stand for extended periods. Repeatedly enter and exit vehicles. Bend, reach, kneel, squat, and work around different areas of a vehicle. Perform physical detailing work throughout the workday. Work indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, humid, windy, and changing weather conditions. Work around water, professional detailing products, and vehicle-cleaning equipment. Safely operate a variety of vehicles. Lift and carry approximately 10-50+ lbs. as required. Work in an active, high-volume fleet environment. They check their own work, correct what was missed, communicate when they find damage or another concern, and understand that their work directly affects the final QC process. Growth Opportunity This position provides hands-on experience with professional vehicle detailing, vehicle preparation, fleet operations, quality standards, and vehicle movement. Employees who demonstrate strong performance, reliability, initiative, and an interest in learning may have opportunities to cross-train in vehicle inspection and other QC responsibilities. Continued development may lead to additional responsibilities, opportunities to help train other associates, future QC leadership development, or opportunities elsewhere within First Class Fleet as positions become available. Schedule Monday-Friday 6:30 AM-3:30 PM Full-Time | 40 hours per week Occasional overtime may be required based on vehicle volume, deadlines, and operational needs. Our operation supports vehicles through multiple stages of the fleet process, including receiving, upfitting, quality control, service coordination, inventory management, and transportation.
