On-Site Sound Engineer / Live Entertainment Production The Lighthouse - Huntington Beach, CA Part-Time | Starting at $25/hour | Nights & Weekends | Live Music & Events About The Lighthouse The Lighthouse Huntington Beach is a high-energy live entertainment, restaurant, bar, and nightlife venue featuring live bands, DJs, sporting events, watch parties, and special events throughout the week. We are looking for an experienced, reliable, and hospitality-minded On-Site Sound Engineer to oversee the technical execution of our live entertainment while serving as the primary on-site point of contact for our bands and performers. This position goes beyond simply mixing sound. We are looking for someone who can help us create a professional, consistent experience for every artist who performs at The Lighthouse—from the moment they arrive until the end of the night. Key ResponsibilitiesLive Sound & Production Operate and mix FOH sound for live bands and other entertainment. Conduct sound checks and ensure bands are performance-ready prior to scheduled start times. Set appropriate levels for vocals, instruments, monitors, and house audio. Troubleshoot microphones, cables, monitors, inputs, stage equipment, and other audio issues. Maintain consistent sound quality throughout performances. Help protect venue equipment by ensuring the sound system is operated properly. Maintain an organized and professional stage and sound area. Communicate technical or equipment issues to management. Band Onboarding & Coordination Serve as the band's primary venue contact upon arrival. Greet performers and coordinate load-in, setup, sound check, performance, and load-out. Review stage plots, input requirements, and other technical needs when necessary. Coordinate with venue management regarding entertainment schedules and special requirements. Keep bands informed of set times, breaks, venue expectations, and any schedule adjustments. Help ensure performances begin and end according to the venue's entertainment schedule. Develop familiarity with recurring bands to make future setups faster and more consistent. Artist & Band Hospitality A major part of this position is making The Lighthouse a venue that artists want to return to. The Sound Engineer will help provide a professional and welcoming experience by: Greeting bands upon arrival and helping them get situated. Showing performers designated load-in, stage, storage, and hospitality areas. Communicating respectfully and professionally with performers throughout the night. Helping resolve reasonable artist needs before they become management issues. Maintaining a positive relationship between performers and venue staff. Ensuring bands understand venue policies and expectations. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who understands both live production and hospitality. You should be comfortable working with musicians while also understanding that you are representing the venue.

Preferred qualifications include:

Previous live sound engineering experience. Experience mixing live bands in bars, clubs, music venues, theaters, or similar environments. Strong understanding of live audio systems, signal flow, microphones, monitors, mixers, and troubleshooting. Ability to conduct efficient sound checks. Comfortable working with different genres, band sizes, and stage configurations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional demeanor when working with artists, management, and venue staff. Ability to remain calm and troubleshoot quickly during live performances. Highly reliable and punctual. Available primarily nights and weekends. Hospitality, nightlife, restaurant, or music venue experience is a plus. Artists leave wanting to play The Lighthouse again. Schedule & Compensation Starting pay: $25/hour Opportunity for increased compensation based on experience and performance. Part-time position based around The Lighthouse's live entertainment calendar. Primarily evenings and weekends. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday availability is especially important. Additional weekday and special-event shifts may be available.
