SUMMARY:
The Fitness/Rental Attendant is responsible for frontline customer service, maintaining the organization/sanitation of the front desk area and fitness rooms, including the cardio, weight, functional training areas, and locker rooms. The Fitness/Rental Attendant is a part-time employee working no more than 20 hours per week during the Fitness Center's open hours (Monday-Thursday, 6:00am-9:00pm and Friday, 6:00am-2:00pm) and/or after hours/weekends as a Rental Attendant, pending availability. This position maybe asked to work at any of the Park District facilities. The position of Fitness/Rental Attendant requires the ability to work at a moderate pace level (50 lbs. or less). Staff may also be required to do light facility setup and take down, including arranging furniture, setting up equipment, and ensuring spaces are ready for events, programs and rentals. This position is under the dual supervision of the Recreation and Fitness Manager during Fitness Center shifts and the Rentals & Customer Experience Supervisor during a rental shift.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Fitness/Rental Attendant should have at least one year in a customer service-related position. The Fitness/Rental Attendant must have experience working Microsoft computer programs and/or be willing to learn. The Fitness/Rental Attendant must have a high school diploma (or equivalent).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Greet all patrons, members, and participants in a professional and courteous manner as they enter the Park District facilities. 2. Answer patron questions in person, by phone, or direct them to the right person, always in a professional and appropriate manner. 3. Process all program registrations, memberships and personal training packages. 4. As needed update membership information and process cancellations. 5. Inform patrons where they can locate rental contracts and permits for the rentals. 6. Ensure all fitness equipment is put away and organized in the proper place throughout your shift. 7. Encourage members to put equipment away when finished. 8. Responsible for set up and take down of program/rental equipment running during your shift. 9. Ensure members are complying with safety protocols while in the facility. 10. Clean and sanitize facilities and equipment routinely. These areas include high touch points. 11. Perform facility checks daily. 12. Assist or show members where the instructions are on fitness equipment if members need assistance on how to operate. 13. Perform basic maintenance such as emptying trash, cleaning floors, dusting etc. 14. Prepare for special events and/or rentals as directed by a supervisor. 15. Copy and distribute information and flyers for upcoming events and programs. 16. Process drop in gymnasium rentals and memberships. 17. Complete task checklist during each opening and closing shift. 18. Knowledge of Park District policies and procedures. 19. Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAITS
1. Excellent customer service skills (internal and external customers). 2. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office. 3. Ability to work independently with little supervision. 4. Become proficient in using VSI RecTrac 3.1 within three months. 5. Must be able to bend, stoop, lift items up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, turn, walk, and stand for extended periods of time. 6. Must acquire CPR/AED training within the first two months of employment. Set up with your direct supervisor.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
1. Have a basic knowledge of all programs, special events, and memberships; or know how and where to obtain the information. 2. Assist all employees of the Park District as needed.
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Fitness/Rental Attendant may feel added pressure from the volume of calls, walk in requests, emails about programs, special events and general Park District information. The Fitness/Rental Attendant must remain calm and continually share Park District information with patrons.
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Fitness/Rental Attendant must be able to bend, stoop, lift items weighing up to 50 pounds, turn, climb stairs, sit, walk, and stand for short or extended periods of time.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
The Fitness/Rental Attendant may be exposed to elements when assisting with outdoor functions. Most activities are performed indoors; the outdoor conditions may include lighting and extreme temperatures.
COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS
The Fitness/Rental Attendant must exhibit good problem-solving ability and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Park District. The Fitness/Rental Attendant must be in compliance with the loss prevention and safety policies of the Park District.
