The Peninsula Health Care District Health & Fitness Center is a community-focused facility dedicated to helping older adults stay active, independent, and connected. Through group exercise classes, personalized fitness guidance, and wellness programs, we provide a welcoming, supportive environment where members can build strength, improve balance and mobility, and enhance their quality of life.

Health & Fitness Center Director Interrelationships:
Health & Fitness Center members and PHCD teammates Job Responsibilities Fitness Conduct fitness evaluations in accordance with Fitness Center procedures, industry standards, and ACSM guidelines. Develop safe and appropriate exercise programs for older adults, including members with special needs or health considerations. Lead senior-focused group fitness classes, personal training, and small-group training sessions. Teach proper exercise technique, equipment use, and movement modifications to promote safety and reduce injury risk. Support specialized programs such as fall prevention, diabetes prevention, and other health and wellness initiatives. Senior Wellness Connect members with local senior-friendly services, community resources, and support programs. Maintain awareness of free or low-cost resources related to transportation, nutrition, recreation, healthcare, and social services. Build relationships with local agencies and organizations that support healthy aging and access to essential services. Develop and lead social, recreational, and wellness activities that encourage connection and engagement. Collaborate with senior case managers and community partners to help members access appropriate resources and services. Customer Service Welcome members and guests, answer questions, provide tours, and assist with general Fitness Center needs. Register members, schedule appointments, process payments, and maintain accurate member information. Assist members in understanding available fitness insurance benefits and Fitness Center programs. Help maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and safe Fitness Center environment. Monitor and restock supplies, equipment, refreshments, towels, and other member amenities as needed. Outreach Support membership recruitment and retention efforts. Represent the Fitness Center at community outreach, health fairs, and engagement events. Build relationships with local organizations, senior-serving agencies, healthcare providers, and community groups. Promote Fitness Center classes, programs, events, and wellness resources throughout the community. Help identify new partnership and outreach opportunities that increase participation and access to Fitness Center services. Communications Develop and maintain a content calendar for Fitness Center communications and social media. Create engaging graphics, photos, videos, and promotional content highlighting programs, events, and member experiences. Develop educational content related to senior fitness, wellness, healthy aging, and community resources. Draft newsletter articles, announcements, program descriptions, and other Fitness Center communications. Assist the Fitness Center Director with maintaining accurate and up-to-date website and promotional information. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills 3-5 years of working with older adults Must be eager to learn and continue professional development and education Willingness to be trained on physical fitness and proper exercise techniques Possess exemplary service skills Strong communication skills Computer literacy skills Certifications/Licenses CPR/AED Certification Fitness Certification (NASM, NSCA, ACE, etc.) BLS/First Aid Education Minimum of high school diploma or GED Bachelor's degree in a related field of health/fitness preferred, or experience equivalent to five years in the industry Compensation + Benefits $25
