Job Description

About Soup Zen Hot Pot Soup Zen Hot Pot is a new-style Hot Pot restaurant opening at Burlington Mall (75 Middlesex Turnpike, Burlington, MA 01803) in late 2026. This is our first U.S. location. Because we are opening from scratch, everyone hired now is a founding team member. You will be paid for pre-opening training, you will help us set the standards rather than inherit them, and the people who show up and lead early are the people we promote first. The Role Our Front of House Crew Member is one cross-trained role that covers host, self-select line guide, cashier, food runner, dining room service, and takeout packing. You will be trained on all of them and moved where the shift needs you. If you would rather be busy than bored, this is the right job. Hot Pot is new to most Burlington guests. A lot of people will walk in and have no idea what to do with the bowl and tongs. Your most important job is making that first minute easy — explain the line, help them pick, and send them off feeling like they knew what they were doing the whole time. What You'll Do Host Welcome guests at the door, explain how the self-select line works to first-timers, and assign seating so the dining room stays organized and turns cleanly Work the self-select line: hand out bowls and tongs, answer ingredient and allergen questions, keep the line moving, and guide guests on portioning so nobody is surprised at the scale Cashier/Bar Run the register: weigh each bowl, ring it up by weight, capture broth choice and spice level correctly, add drinks and appetizers, take cash and card payments, and send an accurate ticket to the kitchen Pack takeout and delivery orders accurately — correct broth, correct add-ons, sealed, bagged with utensils and sauce Help restock the self-select line with fresh pans from the kitchen during service and flag low items before they run out Serve beer and wine responsibly, check IDs, and refuse service when required by law Dinning Room Service Run finished bowls to the correct table quickly, while they are still hot Check back on tables during the meal: refills, extra napkins, spice level, and anything that needs fixing before the guest has to ask Serve complimentary soft-serve ice cream to guests at the end of their meal, and keep that station stocked, clean, and broken down nightly per manufacturer procedure Clear and sanitize tables after guests leave, reset them for the next party, and keep the dining room, restrooms, and beverage area clean all shift — not just at close What We're Looking For Friendly, energetic, and comfortable approaching guests — restaurant experience is helpful but we will train the right person from zero Able to explain a new concept patiently and clearly, over and over, without losing the smile Able to stay organized and pleasant during busy shift Evening, weekend, and holiday availability — mall hours are our busiest hours Additional languages (Chinese, Spanish, French and others) are a plus, not a requirement Physical Requirements Stand and walk for the length of a shift, typically 6-8 hours Carry trays and bus tubs and lift up to 30 lbs Work safely around hot broth, hot bowls, and cooking equipment Bend, reach, and work at a refrigerated self-select line throughout the shift What We Offer This is a wage plus tip position earning of at least $15 an hour. Competitive hourly pay, reviewed after your first 90 days Free shift meal every shift you work, plus an employee discount when you dine with us when you are off Paid pre-opening training — you are on the clock from day one of training Sick Paid Flexible scheduling around school, family, or a second job — tell us your availability and we will build around it Free employee parking at Burlington Mall Promotion track: Crew → Trainer → Shift Lead → Assistant Manager and up Referral bonus
