Retail, Meat Counter, Cashier — Job Duties & Responsibilities Position Summary Working under the direct lead of the Retail Lead, a Retail, Meat Counter, Cashier is responsible for helping run the day-to-day operations while providing superior customer service, ensuring product quality, stocking inventory, while maintaining proper sanitation. Core Responsibilities Complete daily tasks and ensure work is completed on time. Assist customers and provide knowledgeable product recommendations. Maintain fully stocked, clean, organized, and attractive shelves/cases. Monitor product availability and communicate inventory needs to the Retail or Meat Lead. Ensure products are properly priced, labeled, rotated, and displayed. Open and/or close the store as assigned. Field customer concerns and/or issues professionally. (Bring complaints to Retail or Meat Lead's attention) Effectively communicate amongst team members, other departments, and leaders. Employee Leadership & Training Keep up to date on all training needed to perform job tasks and company policies. Complete ongoing training and development opportunities as the direction of the Retail & Meat Leads. Facilitate in training new employees on customer service, product knowledge, sanitation, and department procedures. Foster a positive team environment through clear communication. Adhere to the attendance and break policies, as it refers to the schedule. Lead by example and maintain a professional work environment. Follow proper procedures for all employee benefits for example, discount and employee tabs. Continue developing as an employee and open to taking on additional responsibilities. Customer Service & Sales Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service. Carryout daily shift activities, including fresh meat handling, cashiering, POS system management, cash handling, customer interactions and anything else deemed necessary by the Retail or Meat Leads. Answer questions regarding products, pricing, preparation, and availability. Upsell by recommending products and promoting specials to increase sales. Handle special orders and customer requests when appropriate. Inventory & Merchandising Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out). Check expiration/use-by dates and notify the Retail Lead of any unacceptable products. Notify Retail Lead of any spoilage, damage, incorrect pricing, or poor inventory control. Carry out sales strategies to meet or exceed targets through promotional activities and excellent customer service. Communicate any out of stock items for ordering to the Retail Lead Receiving merchandise and put away in appropriate areas if it doesn't fit on shelves Verify deliveries for quantity and product quality from invoices. Lifting and bending is a daily task as needed. Be aware of any inaccurate pricing and signage and immediately notify the Retail Lead. Food Safety & Sanitation Follow proper sanitation procedures and food-safety requirements. Be able to identify appropriate refrigerated and frozen product temperatures. Ensure proper handling and storage of meat and other perishable products. (Proper control on order filling and proper location) Prevent cross-contamination. Ensure coolers, freezers, display cases, counters, equipment, and customer areas remain clean. Follow proper handwashing, gloving, PPE, and sanitation requirements. Immediately address expired, damaged, contaminated, or otherwise unacceptable products to the Retail Lead. Cash Handling & Store Operations Operate Toast (POS) register systems when necessary. Verify accurate transactions, discounts, and pricing. Assist with cash drawer counts and closing procedures. Maintain security of cash, merchandise, and company property. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) A Retail Leads Performance can be measured on: Daily/weekly sales Sales growth Gross margin Labor cost % Sales per labor hour Shrink/waste % Inventory accuracy Out-of-stock rate Food-safety/sanitation compliance Employee attendance Training completion Display/merchandising standards
