Cellar Assistant - Part-Time with Potential for Full-Time 45 North Vineyard & Winery | Lake Leelanau, Michigan 45 North Vineyard & Winery is seeking a dependable, hardworking Cellar Assistant to support our winemaker. This position will begin at approximately 2-3 days per week, with the potential for additional hours—particularly during harvest—and the opportunity to grow into a full-time role. This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in keeping an organized workspace, and is interested in learning more about winemaking and cellar operations. Previous winery experience is helpful but not required for the right person.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting the winemaker with day-to-day cellar and production activities Cleaning and sanitizing tanks, hoses, equipment, and production areas Supporting wine transfers, racking, blending, filtration, and bottling Assisting with grape processing during harvest Monitoring and maintaining an organized, clean, and safe cellar Helping with inventory, supplies, and general winery maintenance Following established sanitation, safety, and recordkeeping procedures knowledge of innovint is a plus Performing other cellar and production tasks as needed
Qualifications:
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently Willingness to learn and follow detailed instructions Strong attention to cleanliness and organization Comfortable working in a physically active environment Able to lift approximately 50 pounds and work on your feet for extended periods Comfortable working around wet floors, cellar equipment, ladders, and varying temperatures Flexible availability during harvest, including occasional longer days or weekends Previous winery, brewery, food-production, farming, mechanical, or maintenance experience is a plus Forklift experience is a plus, but training may be provided
Schedule:
Approximately 2-3 days per week to start Increased hours may be available during harvest and other busy production periods Potential to develop into a full-time position based on experience, performance, and winery needs
Compensation:
