This hands-on role is responsible for assisting with production activities from ingredient preparation through packaging while helping maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient brewery environment. The Production Assistant works closely with the brewing and packaging teams to support the consistent production of high-quality beer according to Wise Man Brewing's standard operating procedures and quality standards. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, flexibility, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Production & Brewery Responsibilities Assist with daily brewery, cellar, and packaging operations. Support the operation of brewery and packaging equipment in accordance with established procedures. Assist with production preparation, including: Milling grain Weighing hops and other ingredients Preparing yeast and production materials Dry hopping as directed Handling and disposing of spent grain Assist with beer transfers and other cellar operations. Support yeast management activities as trained and directed. Maintain organization and cleanliness of ingredient, production, and storage areas. Follow production schedules, SOPs, and quality standards. Assist with troubleshooting routine production and equipment issues as appropriate. Support other brewery production activities as needed. Packaging Responsibilities Assist with packaging beer into cans and kegs. Clean, sanitize, fill, and prepare kegs for use and distribution. Assist with canning line setup, operation, breakdown, and cleaning. Monitor packaging quality and immediately communicate any quality or equipment concerns. Maintain cleanliness and organization of packaging areas and equipment. Follow all packaging SOPs, sanitation procedures, and safety requirements. Cleaning, Sanitation & Safety Maintain a high level of sanitation throughout all production areas. Perform cleaning and sanitation duties including: Fermenter and brite tank CIP and sanitation Cleaning hoses, fittings, and production parts Floor scrubbing and sweeping Equipment cleaning General brewery housekeeping Maintain clean and organized work areas throughout each shift. Follow all brewery safety procedures and proper chemical-handling practices. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment issues, or maintenance needs. Use brewery equipment and tools safely and properly at all times. Warehouse & Material Support Assist with the movement of finished beer, ingredients, packaging materials, and other production supplies. Transport products and materials between brewery and warehouse locations as needed. Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing production materials. Help maintain organized storage areas and efficient product rotation. Safely operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 21 years of age. Strong work ethic, dependable attendance, and a positive attitude. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Good communication and problem-solving skills. Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn brewery equipment and production processes. Ability to repeatedly lift and carry up to 55 lbs. Ability to safely move and maneuver full kegs weighing approximately 160-165 lbs. Ability to stand, bend, lift, climb, and remain physically active for extended periods. Ability to work safely and efficiently in wet, hot, cold, noisy, and close-quarter production environments. Flexibility to work additional hours or adjusted schedules when production needs require. Willingness to follow detailed SOPs, sanitation procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards. Interest in and appreciation for high-quality craft beer and brewery operations. Production Assistant — Preferred Qualifications Previous brewery, cellar, packaging, manufacturing, warehouse, or other production experience. Formal brewing, fermentation, or production-related education. Experience working in a commercial brewery. Forklift certification or previous forklift experience. Experience operating packaging or production equipment. Success in This Role The successful Production Assistant is dependable, hardworking, safety-minded, and willing to jump in wherever needed.
