Player Host PikLab Concord, CA Job Details Full-time $17 - $23 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications Store opening/closing procedures Retail store experience Venue guest services Full Job Description Player Host PikLab (formerly Indoor Pickleball X) Concord - Concord, CA About the Role PikLab Concord is looking for a warm, proactive, and dependable Player Host . This is not a traditional sit-behind-the-desk position. The Player Host's primary responsibility is to help people connect —welcoming players, understanding what they need, introducing them to the right people and programs, and creating a club environment where everyone feels comfortable returning. The Player Host also supports check-in, club operations, cleanliness, retail sales, reservations, and rule enforcement. During quieter periods, Player Hosts remain active by walking the club, assisting guests, organizing the facility, and completing operational tasks.
Primary Responsibility:
Help People Connect Welcome every player and guest warmly. Learn players' names, levels, interests, and playing preferences over time. Introduce players who may enjoy playing together. Help new players understand how the club works. Guide beginners toward Beginner Classes and Beginner Open Play. Connect intermediate and advanced players with suitable games, groups, coaches, leagues, and events. Check back after making an introduction to make sure the connection was successful. Help players who arrive alone find an appropriate playing opportunity. Create an inclusive environment without forcing interaction on people who prefer space. Guest Experience Greet arriving guests promptly with eye contact and a welcoming attitude. Give first-time visitors a clear introduction to the facility. Answer questions about programs, pricing, reservations, events, and memberships. Handle concerns calmly and professionally. Follow up when a player needs additional assistance. Help create a positive, energetic, and community-focused atmosphere. Club Operations Runs daily operations Manage player check-in and check-out. Verify reservations, payments, waivers, and guest access. Monitor court activity and Open Play rotation. Enforce club policies fairly, including with regular players, coaches, and personal acquaintances. Walk through the facility regularly rather than remaining behind the desk. Keep the front desk, retail area, refrigerator, restrooms, and common areas clean and organized. Report safety, maintenance, customer-service, or operational issues promptly. Complete opening, closing, and shift handoff responsibilities. Programs and Sales Support Learns sales, marketing, events, coaching coordination Introduce relevant programs based on each player's needs. Help beginners take the next step in their player journey. Explain classes, Open Play, leagues, events, court rentals, birthday parties, and club credit options. Identify customer needs before recommending a product or program. Support retail sales of paddles, bags, balls, beverages, and other club products. Record and follow up on genuine customer interest without using high-pressure sales tactics. Quiet Period Expectations There is always productive work available during a scheduled shift. During slower periods, Player Hosts should: Walk and monitor the club. Connect with players and check on new guests. Review reservations and incomplete check-ins. Organize merchandise and club equipment. Clean and inspect customer-facing areas. Follow up on inquiries and assigned tasks. Prepare for upcoming programs, events, and reservations. Personal homework, studying, entertainment, or other non-work activities are not permitted while on duty. If staffing is no longer needed and assigned work has been completed, a manager may approve an early end to the shift. Reliable, punctual, and organized. Comfortable learning new technology and procedures. Able to accept feedback and make lasting improvements. Willing to enforce rules politely and consistently. Motivated to take ownership, develop new skills, and earn greater responsibility. Comfortable with customer service and appropriate sales conversations. Available during evenings and weekends. Experience in fitness clubs, hospitality, membership services, recreation, retail, events, or customer service is helpful. Pickleball experience is welcome but not required.
