Hostess / Front-of-House Team Member Position Summary Professional and customer-focused Hostess responsible for creating a welcoming first impression, managing the guest experience from arrival through departure, and supporting the overall efficiency of front-of-house restaurant operations. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to remain organized and composed in a fast-paced environment. In addition to greeting and seating guests, the role includes assisting with table maintenance and bussing duties to ensure a clean, comfortable, and well-organized dining environment. Key Duties and Responsibilities Warmly greet guests upon arrival, acknowledge departing guests, and provide courteous, professional service throughout their visit. Manage the flow of guests by accurately maintaining the seating chart, monitoring table availability, and coordinating seating assignments with servers and management. Escort guests to their tables, provide menus, and communicate relevant information regarding specials, wait times, reservations, or restaurant policies. Respond kindly to guest inquiries, and provide accurate information regarding restaurant services. Maintain awareness of dining-room capacity and assist in balancing guest seating among service sections to support efficient restaurant operations. Monitor the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the entrance, host stand, dining room, and guest-facing areas. Bus and reset tables promptly after guests depart by removing used plates, glassware, utensils, napkins, and other items; wiping and sanitizing table surfaces; and replacing clean settings as needed. Assist servers by keeping tables clear of used dishes and maintaining an orderly dining area during busy service periods. Transport soiled dishes, glassware, and utensils to the appropriate dishwashing or designated service area while following proper restaurant sanitation and safety procedures. Replenish menus, silverware, napkins, condiments, and other front-of-house supplies as necessary. Assist with maintaining clean and organized service stations and common areas. Communicate effectively with servers, bussers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth coordination and timely guest service. Respond to guest needs and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when appropriate. Follow all company policies, food-safety standards, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety requirements. Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, organizing, restocking, and preparing the dining room for service. Maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and courteous demeanor at all times. Qualifications and Skills Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
