Job Description

Cliff Dwellers Lodge, located in Marble Canyon, Arizona is seeking a hands-on, experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our remote destination property near Marble Canyon, Arizona. The General Manager oversees Cliff Dwellers Lodge, Kayak Horseshoe Bend, and Lees Ferry Anglers, including lodging, restaurant, general store, onsite employee housing, outdoor recreation, and guest services. This is an on-site leadership position for someone who enjoys being where the action is, leading from the front, solving problems, supporting employees, and creating an exceptional guest experience. What You'll Do Lead Daily Operations Oversee the daily operation of the lodge, restaurant, general store, employee housing, kayak operations, fishing operations, and guest services. Conduct regular property walkthroughs and department check-ins. Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, safety, and guest readiness. Identify and address operational, maintenance, and staffing needs proactively. Provide hands-on support across departments when business demands or staffing needs require. Lead and Develop the Team Recruit, hire, onboard, train, supervise, and develop employees. Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on seasonal demand and business needs. Promote a professional, respectful, accountable, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment. Communicate regularly with employees and address performance and personnel issues promptly. Oversee onsite employee housing and maintain appropriate standards for safety and cleanliness. Deliver an Exceptional Guest Experience Maintain a visible presence throughout the property and engage with guests. Promote a culture of exceptional hospitality and guest service. Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly. Identify opportunities to continuously improve the guest experience. Manage Business Performance Monitor occupancy, revenue, pricing, expenses, inventory, and overall operational performance. Manage purchasing, ordering, inventory, and cost controls for the restaurant and general store. Monitor lodging and activity pricing based on occupancy, demand, and seasonal conditions. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service, and profitability. Protect Company assets through responsible financial and operational management. Maintain Safety and Compliance Promote a safe environment for employees, guests, contractors, and visitors. Identify, document, and promptly address safety and operational concerns. Maintain compliance with Company policies and applicable laws and regulations. Ensure significant personnel, financial, legal, safety, or operational matters are promptly communicated to Company management. What We're Looking For 3+ years of progressive leadership experience in hospitality, lodging, resort, outdoor recreation, or a comparable service environment. Experience leading teams and managing daily operations, with a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, respectful, inclusive, and team-oriented workplace culture. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment. Experience with scheduling, purchasing, inventory, budgets, and operational performance. A hands-on leadership style and willingness to work across departments when needed. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs. Preferred Experience Boutique hotel, lodge, resort, or destination hospitality experience. Experience in a remote property or resort environment. Experience with kayaking, fishing, guiding, or other outdoor recreation operations. Experience with onsite employee housing. Familiarity with Toast, Lightspeed, AdventureRes, Trello, QuickBooks, or comparable systems. We will train the right person. We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills, sound judgment, a positive attitude, and the ability to take ownership of a complex, multi-faceted operation. Work Environment Full-time, on-site, live-in position requiring 40+ hours per week and flexibility for evenings, weekends, holidays, and operational needs. The position requires the ability to work throughout the property, including guest accommodations, restaurant, retail operations, employee housing, maintenance areas, and outdoor recreation facilities. Housing provided. RV accommodations may also be available. Cliff Dwellers Lodge is located in Marble Canyon, Arizona, near Lees Ferry and the Colorado River.
