Yara Hotel

BOUTIQUE HOTEL OPERATIONS MANAGER (Yara Hotel)

Job Description

ABOUT YARA
Yara Hotel is an intimate, design-forward, 10-room boutique hotel in Palm Springs. We are known for highly personalized hospitality, thoughtful details, a beautiful poolside experience and whole-property retreats, celebrations and buyouts. We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Hotel Operations Manager to lead our daily on-property operations. This is Yara's senior operational position on property and reports directly to the Managing Director. The right person combines operational discipline with a strong visual hospitality eye. They notice what needs attention, create a solution, communicate clearly and follow through until the issue is fully resolved. At Yara, "clean and functional" is only the baseline. Guest rooms and common spaces must feel intentional, polished, calm and ready for a guest's first impression—or first photograph.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Hotel Operations Manager oversees the daily guest and property experience, including guest services, housekeeping coordination, employee leadership, food-and-beverage execution, property standards, maintenance follow-through and event operations. This is not a desk-only management position. Because Yara is a small independent hotel, the Operations Manager will move naturally between guest service and property-wide leadership: welcoming guests, solving operational problems, coordinating the team, inspecting work and ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the smooth and consistent daily operation of the hotel. Review arrivals, departures, guest notes, special requests and operational priorities. Ensure reservations, payments and required guest information are complete and accurate. Deliver warm, polished guest service and resolve routine service issues with confidence and good judgment. Supervise guest-services and housekeeping employees, including scheduling, training, coaching and performance documentation. Manage ordinary callouts and coverage needs while working within established labor expectations. Review timecards and prepare accurate payroll information for final approval. Coordinate room readiness and inspect guestrooms and public areas for cleanliness, presentation, function and visual cohesion. Maintain a property that feels intentionally prepared and guest-ready at all times; notice and correct details involving furniture arrangement, pool setup, lighting, bar and breakfast presentation, greenery, clutter, wear and overall order. Maintain operating checklists, inventory levels, incident documentation and open-issue logs. Track maintenance needs, troubleshoot routine problems, coordinate approved vendors and follow through until repairs are completed. Oversee the daily execution of breakfast, refreshments and poolside bar service. Support inventory, sanitation, responsible alcohol service and established food-and-beverage standards. Coordinate staffing, setup, vendor access and guest logistics for retreats, celebrations and hotel buyouts. Use hotel systems to manage reservations, guest communications, scheduling and operational documentation. Provide concise reporting, informed recommendations and practical solutions to the Managing Director. Participate in a scheduled manager-on-duty rotation for occasional urgent operational escalations. SYSTEMS Yara uses ThinkReservations, major OTA platforms including Expedia, Booking.com and Airbnb, as well as Quo and Connecteam and other other smart systems. Previous experience with ThinkReservations or another hotel property-management system is strongly preferred. The successful candidate must be comfortable learning technology, moving between multiple platforms and maintaining accurate information.
QUALIFICATIONS
At least two years of supervisory experience in a hotel, resort, restaurant or boutique-hospitality environment. Experience with hotel guest services, front-office operations and housekeeping coordination. Experience in an independent, design-led, lifestyle or luxury-hospitality environment strongly preferred. Food-and-beverage, bartending or private-event experience is highly desirable. Demonstrated ability to lead employees, communicate expectations and address performance concerns. Strong visual judgment and an instinct for design-led hospitality; able to recognize and correct the small details that materially affect a guest's perception of quality. Excellent attention to detail and reliable follow-through. Strong guest-service instincts and professional written and verbal communication. Calm, resourceful judgment when handling guest, employee or property problems. Availability to work weekends, holidays, event periods and limited manager-on-duty coverage. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Current food-handler and responsible-beverage-service credentials, or the ability to obtain them promptly.
WHO WILL THRIVE HERE
You may be an Assistant General Manager, Front Office Manager, Rooms Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager or experienced boutique-hotel operator ready for broader responsibility and meaningful autonomy. You take pride in beautiful hospitality, but you are equally comfortable creating schedules, inspecting rooms, coaching employees, troubleshooting a property issue and ensuring every important detail has been closed out. Yara Hotel is an equal-opportunity employer.
