Job Description

Clean Harbors seeks a Tank Inspector to perform detailed inspections of aboveground and underground storage tanks for environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance. Working within our Inspection, Certification & Quality Control department, you will conduct visual and NDE testing, document findings, prepare inspection reports, and recommend corrective actions. You will collaborate with operations and environmental teams, uphold Clean Harbors' safety-first culture, and support customers in meeting regulatory and quality standards across diverse industrial sites. Responsibilities Perform internal and external inspections of aboveground and underground storage tanks for integrity and compliance Conduct non-destructive examinations (e.g., UT, MT, PT, visual) per applicable codes and standards Document inspection results with clear reports, photos, measurements, and recommendations Verify compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements (API, EPA, local codes) Support certification, quality control, and audit activities for tank systems and related equipment Coordinate with project managers and field teams to schedule and prioritize inspections Identify hazards and enforce Clean Harbors' safety-first policies, including proper PPE and procedures Recommend repair, maintenance, or replacement actions based on inspection findings Maintain accurate digital records and inspection databases Participate in ongoing training to stay current on standards, inspection technologies, and environmental regulations Required Skills Tank inspection Non-destructive examination (NDE/NDT) API 653 standards Ultrasonic thickness testing (UT) Mechanical drawing/blueprint reading Environmental and safety regulations (EPA/OSHA) Report writing and documentation Confined space entry practices Corrosion and materials knowledge Quality control and auditing
