We are a site based school program serving over 400 students under the authorization of Dixon Unified School District. At DMCS, we blend core components of the Montessori philosophy (Kindergarten thru 6th) with a Project-Based Learning Style (7th thru 8th grades) to create a dynamic, "hands-on" learning approach. All Montessori and Project-Based curriculum is aligned to the Common Core State Standards, and gives the students a well-rounded exposure to the many ways of learning.

Under the general supervision of the Executive Director and the Business Services Administrator, maintain the facility in a clean, sanitary, operational, and safe condition. This includes but is not limited to classrooms, hallways, multi-purpose room, library, computer lab, office, bathrooms, etc. Relationship to

Keeping classrooms and other site areas clean, safe and attractive contribute to the morale of other staff and students, thereby setting an environment in which students can learn.

Executive Director, Business Duties and Responsibilities:

Sweep, scrub, wax and polish floors. Clean restrooms, fountains, windows, walls, etc. Dust and polish furniture, woodwork and fixtures. Empty and clean waste receptacles Vacuum carpets Remove graffiti Sweep sidewalks and play areas May assist teachers in arrangement of rooms; set up facility for meetings and other uses. Operates scrubbers, buffers, vacuum cleaners, and related custodial equipment. Make minor, non-technical repairs Check and cleans equipment Replace light bulbs Reports fire, sanitary and safety hazards Participates in emergency situations. May supervise students or volunteers assigned to custodial work. May set up, open, and close classrooms and other school facilities for various community activities and services. Coordinates custodial and supply orders Does other related work as assigned
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
Must have knowledge of safe work practices. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions. Preferably one-year experience in janitorial work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Work requires walking, standing, sitting, kneeling
  • Work is performed while moving about the office to utilize equipment, technology, etc.
  • May require traveling in a vehicle to job assignments.
  • Work is performed while moving supplies weighing up to 20 pounds across the classroom Requires the ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Requires the ability to detect information displayed on a computer screen and read documents.
  • Requires the ability to operate a computer keyboard or standard office equipment.
