https://www.edjoin.org/Home/JobPosting/2258990 Job Summary Under the direction of the Supervisor of Operations, the Lead Custodian K-8 will plan, assign, oversee and personally perform routine cleaning work in a school plant under the direct supervision of the Principal or assigned administrator, and the general supervision of the Supervisor of Operations using the procedures and techniques outlined in the District's Custodial Services Manual. Provide leadership in maintaining the physical plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made of them at all times. Duties Duties of the Lead Custodian K-8 shall include the following:  Confer with administrators or supervisors regarding planning and prioritizing care and cleaning programs at a school facility. Assist in preparing work schedules and assures that work is performed in accordance with instructions. Plan, organize and oversee the custodial assignments at the school site to assure high standard of safety, sanitation and efficiency. During non-student attendance days submit a calendar/schedule of work. Assist and work with school site custodians on all cleaning projects and other tasks required to meet District cleaning standards. As needed, the Lead Custodian will work an overlapping shift in order to meet with custodians assigned to other shifts. Keep buildings and premises neat and clean at all times and exteriors free of debris. Clean assigned areas following District cleaning procedures. Clean restrooms daily following District cleaning procedures; clean all fixtures and drinking fountains following the District's daily and weekly cleaning schedule. Clean all windows on both the inside and outside following District cleaning procedures. Keep floors in clean, safe and attractive condition. Clean whiteboards according to established schedule. Make minor repairs; report major repair needs and damage to school property to supervisor promptly following District procedures. Facilitate the open and closure of buildings each day; determine that doors and windows are secure; assure that lights are turned off/on during school operational hours. Follow school site procedure, maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment on hand and requisition needed replacement well in advance to avoid disruption of service. Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities as directed by the Principal or assigned supervisor. Comply with State and Federal laws and District procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste materials, use of chemicals, and injury prevention programs. Perform general cleaning after meals; may clean kitchens; cleans sports equipment as needed. Assembles, dismantles, opens and closes cafeteria facilities, multi-purpose room, classrooms and other facilities in preparation for meals, community activities, sports events or other special event purposes. Generate work orders as needed. In emergencies, promptly remove obscene words or drawings on buildings or property. Monitor the functionality and battery life of all site AED equipment. Raises/lower flags. May direct the work of other District custodial employees. Monitor and respond to alarm notifications. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Any combination of training, education, experience equivalent to graduation from high school, or GED program. Minimum of four years of custodial experience with progressive experience and responsibilities. Valid California Driver's License.
