QUALIFICATIONS
1) High school diploma. 2) Ability to work with students and adult personnel. 3) Able to follow work schedules and work independently without direct supervision. 4) Knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning of commercial buildings.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Able to frequently lift a minimum of 50 pounds and occasionally lift over 50 pounds. Job entails lifting, pushing, and pulling equipment and supplies as a regular part of the duties. Able to stand and work for long periods of time on concrete and tile floors. Able to complete repetitious tasks with hands (vacuuming, dusting, and buffing). Able to work off of ladders and high platforms. Able to work in extreme weather conditions. Able to operate light equipment.

Head Custodian and Building Administrator
JOB GOAL
To provide custodial care to the school building which reflects pride in the appearance of the building and district at all times.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES
Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity. Shovels, plows, and sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate. Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors except those leading to the office are locked during the hours of building occupancy. Raises the United States flag and lowers it at the appropriate times. Sweeps/vacuums classrooms daily and dusts furniture. Cleans corridors and stairwells after school each day and during the day when their condition requires it. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily. Keeps soap, paper towels, and toilet paper dispensers filled. Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year and more frequently if necessary. Keeps the grounds free from rubbish. Keeps all floors, mats, and entry rugs in clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation. Cleans all chalkboards/whiteboards at least once a week. Gives immediate attention to spills, leaks, or accidents of any kind which occur during the work period. Makes minor building repairs. Reports major repairs needed promptly to the principal, head custodian, and/or director of maintenance. Reports immediately to the principal and head custodian any damage to school property. Remains on the school premises during school hours and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and attendance is required by the principal and/or head custodian. Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off. Moves furniture and equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal and/or head custodian. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Twelve month year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the head custodian and building administrator.
