Our Religious Exploration program seeks to ground our children in the traditions of both faiths and in our commitment to welcoming diverse beliefs, to respecting the dignity of all individuals, and to cherishing the living earth. We are seeking a part-time sexton. The Sexton ensures a neat, clean, and ready environment for all spaces in the Parish House and the Church. Special attention is given to facilities before services and after services, as well as before, during and after special church sponsored functions and ceremonies. The Sexton provides daily custodial services and performs routine cleaning of all spaces as needed. In addition, he/she will set-up and clean up for church events. perform minor repairs requiring simple hand tools as needed. sweep walks and drives. maintain the churches playground area to ensure a neat and groomed appearance of the area. If additional hours are desired, Sexton may pick up lawn care during spring and summer months and snow removal in the winter. The Sexton may occasionally be asked to handle additional projects as needed. Arrangements for extra projects will be handled by the Parish Administrator. The successful candidate will have janitorial experience, some handyman skills and is physical able to stand prolonged times and lift up to 50 pounds. He/she will report to the Parish Administrator and work with a number of committees. This will require a team player with good communication and social skills. This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule and occasional weekend hours. The hours for the essential duties will be 15 to 20 hours per week year-round. If agreed upon additional tasks as mentioned before, hours could be extended. The hourly pay for this position is between $25 and $27, depending on skill level.
