Job Description

We are looking for a dependable, energetic, organized, and hardworking individual to join our school community as a Cleaning Associate. This person will take pride in their work, enjoy staying busy, notice what needs to be done without always being asked. They will work closely with our Facilities Director, as well as our community of administrative and teaching staff. This position involves arriving at 2pm as students start to leave the property. Three hours provides enough time to perform the desired tasks so that at 5pm the building will be ready for the following day of school. Wednesdays the students are dismissed early, so a 1pm start time could be a possibility if additional time is needed for deep cleaning or special projects to add an hours to the week. Note; There are 4 floors to this building so the person applying must be able to climb stairs with no issue and be strong enough to carry cleaning supplies and vacuums from floor to floor. Ability to use a 6-foot ladder is important for cleaning high areas.
Responsibilities Include Main assignment:
Daily cleaning and care of classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, kitchen, and common areas of the school. Bathroom toilets and sink areas must be sanitized each day! Make sure each bathroom has a supply of paper towels, toilet paper, and hand soap. Empty all trash cans in all rooms and take the bags out to the dumpster. Wipe down desktops and table surfaces. Vacuum or mop the floors as needed. ( Must be able to move some furniture as necessary for this cleaning). Before leaving for the night all AC units and space heaters must be shut off, room doors closed, lights turned off, windows closed, and finally ensure all exterior doors are locked. During school breaks when students are not in the building, various other types of cleaning will be desired. Carpet cleaning, washing windows, wiping down walls & baseboards, polishing chandeliers & sconces. Cleaning filters in AC window units and air purifiers. Washing out water dispensers with vinegar. Cleaning out the refrigerators/freezers and wiping down the shelves. Wiping down staircase banister handrails. Setting up and taking down chairs and materials for Open Houses and school events will occur occasionally. Sometimes the washing and ironing of table clothes will be involved. As the seasons change decorating for holidays will also occur. This involves taking decorations out of storage, then keeping them clean and putting them neatly in storage for the next year as the seasons end. Keeping supply storage areas neat and organized. Monitoring these cleaning supplies and then notifying the office when items need to be reordered before they run out. Maintaining the faculty kitchen including washing and putting away dishes, keeping counters and sinks clear, emptying coffee maker at night, and regularly cleaning of the refrigerator which could be done during school breaks. Taking initiative to identify tasks and projects that need attention throughout the school What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is reliable, friendly, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently . We especially value someone who takes ownership of their responsibilities. Again, candidates must be comfortable frequently climbing stairs, using a six-foot ladder, moving classroom furniture, carrying supplies, and performing active physical work throughout the day. Physical fitness is required. Because this position is within a school environment, background checks and fingerprinting are required , along with applicable authorization to work in the United States. This position is structured as an independent contractor engagement and does not include health insurance, paid vacation, or other employee benefits. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.
