Overview:

Provide a safe clean environment for students, staff and public Assist Housekeeping Supervisor in cleaning, maintaining, and daily operation of school building.

NOTE:

Essential Functions:

\nSweep, clean, mop, wash, wax, dust, wipe and vacuum all surfaces to maintain cleanliness throughout building and grounds and supervise other employees doing the same\nSecure building each working day as needed\nAttend meetings and in-services as required\nMaintain a daily work routine as established by Housekeeping Supervisor to adequately service the buildings\nPromote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation\nCheck and prepare controls for water, lights, heat and cooling facilities as assigned\nCheck building to assure maximum security\nKeep work and storage areas neat and orderly\nTour building periodically and remain alert for dangerous, hazardous conditions, or items in need of maintenance Set up equipment and furniture for special events and use of building for school and community functions as needed\nPerform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor\nMaintain records as requested by Housekeeping Supervisor\nClean all water coolers\nClean teacher's work area\nClean and sanitize school building restrooms\nInteract in a positive manner with staff, students and parents\nClean hallway glass display cases\nMaintain respect at all times for confidential information\nEnsure safety of students\nConduct periodical inspections of the building\nRequest needed equipment, materials and supplies\nEmpty and dean waste receptacles, trash pails and pencil sharpeners\nRefill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers and bathroom tissue in all school building restrooms\nSecure building nightly as needed\nClean and maintain custodial equipment and materials\nRepair equipment as needed\nMake contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy\nComplete paperwork as required by the Cleaning Coordinator\nPromote good safety practices and procedures\nRemove cobwebs, clean windows and chalkboards\nOther Duties and Responsibilities\nPass on to other employees instructions and requests received from the Housekeeping Supervisor or other administrator\nPerform yearly inventory of work area, supplies and equipment\nAssist work crews on assigned tasks\nAssist in the control of all custodial tools and supplies\nMaintain building security system ensures building is secure and locked\nMaintain accurate inventory of all custodial equipment, materials and supplies\nMust be able to demonstrate the ability to use most common cleaning tools and machines\nHigh School diploma or general education degree (GED)\nMust be able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, painting\nSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the superintendent and /or board of education may find appropriate One to two years related experience\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAbility to read and understand verbal and written instructions, written warnings and labels\nWorking knowledge of assigned building and alarm systems\nTraining in the proper care and storage of chemicals, eg, OSHA/PERRAC training\nKnowledge of appropriate safety procedures\nOrganizational and problem solving skills Effective, active listening skills\nAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing\nAbility to work effectively with others\nEquipment Operated Various cleaning tools\nStripping machine\nPower washer\nFan\nScrubbers and buffers\nFloor scrubbers\nLadders\nFloor waxing machine\nVacuum cleaners\nWet and dry vac\nAdditional Working Conditions\nOccasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions\nOccasional requirement to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and utilize color vision\nOccasional requirement to lift and carry various items up to a maximum of 50 pounds\nOccasional requirement to push and pull various items up to a maximum of 200 pounds (on wheels)\nFrequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., waxing, mopping, sweeping\nFrequent excessive exposure to noise, g., power tools, vacuum sweeper\nFrequent excessive standing, g., to perform repairs\nFrequent requirement to stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, and stretch with hands and arms Occasional climbing of ladders and stairs\nOccasional interaction among unruly children\nOccasional operation of vehicle under inclement weather conditions e., being prepared to come to work on all scheduled work days, except calamity days\nOccasional requirement to walk in excess of 2-3 miles per day, e.g., cleaning Frequent exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue\nThis job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the incumbent The incumbent will be required to follow the instructions and perform the duties required by the incumbent's supervisor, appointing authority.\n
