Position Overview The Madison-Champaign ESC is seeking a reliable, hardworking Custodian to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall maintenance of our facilities. This position plays an important role in maintaining a positive learning and working environment across all ESC buildings. This role will primarily work 1st shift or a swing shift to provide coverage for other custodial staff as needed. Work Schedule & Location Full-Time, 260-day contract Primarily 1st shift or swing shift based on coverage needs Assigned to work across multiple ESC buildings Supports day custodians at each facility Key Responsibilities Perform routine custodial duties, including cleaning, sanitizing, and waste removal Clean floors (sweep, mop, strip, wax), restrooms, classrooms, offices, and common areas Move and arrange furniture, equipment, and supplies as needed Support building operations such as deliveries, event setup/cleanup, and safety checks Monitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns Assist with groundskeeping and seasonal tasks (e.g., snow removal) as needed Follow all safety procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50 pounds or more Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including: Moving furniture and equipment Handling trash and supplies Working on ladders or lifts Standing, bending, and walking for extended periods Additional Requirements Reliable transportation (required, as this role works across multiple locations) Ability to work as part of a team Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
