Executive and Senior Team and Operations Coordinators Schedule/Calendar:
8 hours/day 40 hours/week (This position will work evening hours. The likely shift will be 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm)
Certifications and Qualifications:
- Current (dated within a year of hire) Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances
- Negative TB Test (Dated within three months of hire)
- Driver's License in good standing
- Previous custodial experience preferred
Job Summary:
The Custodian is responsible for keeping assigned building(s) clean, safe, functional, and secure in accordance with prescribed codes and established school policies and standards. A custodian must maintain all assigned building(s) in a state of operational excellence such that they present no interruptions, distractions, or obstacles to the education program. The School Custodian performs a combination of custodial, grounds, and routine maintenance duties. Work is initially performed under immediate supervision of the Head of School, Chief Operations Officer, and Operations Coordinator, however, as experience is acquired, incumbents are expected to perform with increasing independence.
Essential Functions:
- Performs inside and outside cleaning and sanitizing services of all school locations as assigned
- Performs grounds related tasks as required and assigned
- Performs minor maintenance repairs and replacements as directed
- Transports, stores, and maintains an inventory of equipment, materials, and supplies as required
- Performs restoration of resilient and hard surface floors (stripping, wet vacuuming, rinsing, sealing, waxing, buffing, polishing) as directed
- Cleans carpets (spot removal and shampooing).
- Provides setups for community education activities, meetings, and other events, as directed
- Provides custodial type security services such as building checks
- Adequately maintains supplies in custodial closets in a neat and orderly condition in coordination with the Operations Coordinator
- Maintains Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for products used in the school environment
- Ensures the safe and effective use of products, in accordance with their labels and best-practices for usage in a school environment
- Performs other building maintenance tasks as assigned or directed
- Performs snow/ice and debris removal tasks as needed and directed
- Ensure a safe environment at all times, the custodian will be responsible for securing and alarming the building(s) each evening.
- Must maintain at all times during employment an unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record that meets requirements of school policy.
Job Duties Daily:
○ During School Hours ■ Immediate clean-up of accidents during school hours ■ Report excessive need for clean-up in any classroom/area ■ Pick up trash on the grounds ■ Shovel snow & salt icy walkways and/or clear leaves and other debris (seasonal) ■ Minor repairs ○ After School Hours ■ Vacuum or mop all floors after school hours ■ Empty all trash receptacles, clean lid, rinse if any residue leaked into can ■ Clean & Sanitize all bathrooms, urinal, toilets, mirrors, & wet mop floors and sanitize doors/handles/knobs ■ Clean & sanitize kitchen counters, handles, equipment surfaces, and clean dishes ■ Clean door windows and sanitize doors/handles/knobs ○ Routine maintenance (During or After School Hours) ■ Replenish or replace paper towels, toilet paper, soap, air fresheners ■ Spot painting ■ School Custodian performs the full range of cleaning tasks in assigned areas; to include offices, corridors, stairways, classrooms, bathrooms, store rooms, and other similar areas ■ Keeps tools, equipment and work area clean and well organized without any supervision. ■ Keep dumpster area clean
Weekly:
Dust shelves, locker tops, and window ledges Report excess need for clean up in any classroom/area Remove scuff marks on the walls
Monthly:
Wipe down exterior of lockers, doors, bathroom stall doors Window cleaning inside
Annual Summer:
Window cleaning inside & out Detail cleaning — all nooks & crannies Paint/repair as needed or directed Clean, sanitize, repair all desks, chairs, and bathroom walls
Additional Duties:
- Greets students/staff in a friendly manner and uses appropriate language
- Demonstrates professionalism in all interactions
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or administration
- On time for all duties

Physical Requirements:
Medium Work/Heavy Work Sedentary :
involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 10 lbs of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or move objects. Light work : If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the individual sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. The incumbent should be able to exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Medium work : The incumbent should be able to exert up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Heavy work : The incumbent should be able to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects. Very heavy work : The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
Safety and Health:
Knowledge of universal hygiene precautions.
Equipment/Material Handled:
Custodians shall be assigned a variety of materials which are to be appropriately stored and accounted for. All resources and borrowed material are to be judiciously used, and are to be maintained in a reasonably unsoiled and non- damaged fashion. Must know how to properly operate or be willing to learn to operate all multimedia equipment including current technology.
