Custodian Our Lady of Mercy Parish & School (East Greenwich) East Greenwich, RI Job Details Part-time 17 hours ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience Full Job Description Our Lady of Mercy School seeks a school custodian to serve on a part-time basis beginning immediately. The ideal candidate will incorporate his or her abilities in custodial work and basic maintenance, commitment to Catholic education, and willingness to work as part of a larger team into the service of our school's mission: that our students strive to be saints and scholars. The position is hired by and reports to the principal. Responsibilities Supporting and upholding the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church in word and deed Encouraging all students towards sanctity and scholarship as a living witness to the Gospel and to the mission of Our Lady of Mercy School Working effectively with all members of our school community to create an environment where students, faculty, staff, and families pursue excellence in a spirit of Christian charity Cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, hallways, offices, restrooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other school facilities Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning floors and surfaces Emptying trash and recycling containers and disposing of waste appropriately Cleaning and restocking restroom supplies Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs as needed Monitoring school building for safety, maintenance, and security concerns and reporting problems promptly Assisting with setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for school activities, meetings, and special events Maintaining the entrances and immediate surroundings of the school building Performing seasonal tasks such as snow removal, salting, landscaping, or leaf removal as is necessary Maintaining cleaning supplies, equipment, and inventory Following proper procedures for handling cleaning chemicals and equipment Helping maintain a safe environment for children, employees, and visitors Demonstrating professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits Maintaining confidentiality regarding school matters Supporting and adhering to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of Our Lady of Mercy School and the Diocese of Providence Supporting the needs of the school as is necessary or requested by the principal or his designee Requirements High School Diploma preferred Citizenship, residency, or work visa required At least two years of relevant experience preferred Ability to safely operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and stand/walk for extended periods Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all climate conditions Availability on evenings and weekends as is necessary for the fulfillment of duties To Apply Please email the following to Mr. Patrick McNabb, Principal, at : Current Resume Letter of Interest Current Letter of Reference
