Kitchen Lead - Potential for Kitchen Manager Full-Time | $19/hour starting pay | 10:00 AM-6:00 PM | Rotating Weekends About the Position We are looking for a dependable, experienced, and motivated Kitchen Lead to join our team. This is a full-time position with the opportunity to grow into a Kitchen Manager role for the right candidate. The Kitchen Lead will help oversee daily back-of-house operations for our café and catering business, ensuring that food is prepared with consistent quality, kitchen operations run efficiently, and our high standards for cleanliness and food safety are maintained. The ideal candidate is a strong team player and leader who can work independently, stay organized in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in producing high-quality food. This person should be willing to lead by example and have the ability and desire to take on additional responsibilities as they grow into the Kitchen Manager position. Responsibilities Oversee and assist with daily kitchen and back-of-house operations Prepare food prep lists based on café and catering needs and ensure all items are properly prepared and accounted for Prepare and cook food while maintaining quality, consistency, and proper portioning Supervise and assist kitchen staff with daily tasks and responsibilities Provide training and guidance to kitchen team members to improve skills, efficiency, and performance Coordinate truck and grocery orders and ensure adequate product is available for daily operations Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitchen and storage areas Monitor inventory and communicate ordering needs to management Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained and documented as required Follow all food safety, sanitation, food handling, and food storage regulations Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including sweeping, mopping, and general cleaning Coordinate and assist with deep cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, serving equipment, and other kitchen areas Work closely with front-of-house and catering management to ensure smooth service and successful events Help maintain a positive, respectful, and productive team environment Assist with hiring, training, and development of kitchen staff as responsibilities increase Help identify ways to improve kitchen efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain food quality Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in a kitchen lead, kitchen management, or similar food service position preferred Experience in a café, restaurant, catering, or other food production environment Strong food preparation and cooking skills Ability to lead and motivate a kitchen team in a fast-paced environment Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food handling, and proper food storage Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and established food quality standards Reliable, dependable, and able to work well as part of a team Strong communication skills and a positive attitude Ability to work independently and take initiative Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities with the potential for advancement to Kitchen Manager Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to work in a busy kitchen environment and may include: Standing and walking for extended periods Lifting and carrying food, supplies, and equipment Bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling Working in refrigerated and freezer areas Performing cleaning and other physically demanding kitchen tasks
Schedule Full-Time Hours:
