SALARY RANGE
$ 19.02 - $23.12 Per Hour; up to (20) work hours per week (varies per season)
THE POSITION
This position serves as Water Safety Instructor in the Department of Recreation and Community Services and performs swim lesson instruction and lifesaving skills at the USA Water Polo National Training Center. Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and Pool Supervisor, the Water Safety Instructor is required to perform the following essential job functions: demonstrate essential swim strokes to participants in the pool; verbally communicate instructions to children and adults in the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program; enforcement of pool rules and regulations; promote public relations among participants; and perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor. Typical Qualifications
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Previous experience in swim lesson instruction. Prior swimming experience. Past experience working with children. Ability to read and follow directions; ability to interpret and apply pool rules and regulations; ability to work cooperatively with other staff members.
DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING A
minimum of one (1) year experience as a lifeguard at a municipal swimming pool. Ability to swim 400 yards, tread water for 10 minutes, and demonstrate proper rescue techniques.
SPECIAL JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS
American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's Certificate American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer American Red Cross Community First Aid & Safety Title 22 Certificate
