Aquatics Program Manager Essential Duties:
Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard. Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility, wth or without reasonable accommodation. Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness. See and observe all sections of an assigned zone of responsibility, with or without reasonable accommodation Maintain constant vigilance over pool and surrounding areas. Enforce all pool rules and YMCA safety policies consistently and respectfully. Perform rescues, first aid, and emergency procedures as trained. Complete daily chemical checks and ensure safe water quality. Maintain clear communication with staff, members, and aquatics leadership. Support aquatic programming by assisting with transitions and set-up as needed. Keep the pool deck clean, hazard free, and properly equipped. Participate in scheduled in-service training and skills refreshers.
Qualitications:
Lifeguard candidates should have successfully completed an AHJ recognized lifeguard training course offered by an AHJ recognized training agency or Red Cross Lifeguard training course and possess a current certificate from said agency. Current lifeguard certification including CPR/AED, First Aid, and oxygen administration. Strong swimming and rescue skills; ability to pass YMCA skills tests. Must pass all required written certification exams with a minimum score of 80%. Must remain attentive and responsive in a fast-paced environment. Positive communication skills and ability to work with children and families. All certifications must remain current throughout employment; Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid cerfificates are valid for two years and must be renewed prior to expiration. Child abuse prevention training required within 30 days of hire date. (YMCA national standard). Must successfully complete a background check upon offer of employment. Ability to sit or stand in an elevated lifeguard chair for extended periods in high heat and humidity conditions.
