WHAT YOU'LL DO

We are seeking vigilant and skilled Lifeguards to ensure the safety of individuals at our resort in Lake Las Vegas. As a Lifeguard, your primary responsibility is to deliver exemplary and friendly customer service to all guests while prioritizing the safety of guests as they enjoy the pool area. This involves vigilant observation of guests in the pool, executing designated rescue procedures when necessary, and upholding safety measures in accordance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations. The Westin Lake Las Vegas offers a unique environment in Las Vegas, emphasizing an active lifestyle through recreational and family-oriented activities that our guests have come to expect. This position follows a rotating schedule, during which lifeguards engage with guests in various activities, recreational sports such as pool volleyball and pickleball on our recreation courts, and educational workshops featuring our resident desert tortoise, "Speedy." Additional activities include beachside S'mores, arts and crafts, trivia game shows, and movie nights, all organized by our Recreation Department. This lifeguard role provides an exceptional experience, offering adventure and excitement beyond the ordinary. ROLE EXPECTATIONS

Responsible for maintaining the Westin standards of service to guests and coworkers at all times. Responsible for following all designated emergency procedures and understands duties in the event an emergency arises. Provide constant visual surveillance of pool and surrounding area identifying any potential safety or emergency situations. Recognizes and responds effectively to all emergencies and provide medical attention if necessary. Enforces all facility rules and regulations Communicate with guests to make them aware of the safety rules of the pool area(s). Maintains an upright and attentive posture while guarding Responsible for daily set up of the pool deck before the pool opens to guests and completing a breakdown of the pool each day as the pool closes. Awareness of guest experience at all times, smiles and makes eye contact and communicates professionally. Assists guests with any requests; requests; offer assistance in regards to towel distribution, deck seating, cabana rentals and any other general pool operations. Maintains the pool deck so that it is clean and slip resistant, and arrange deck furniture in compliance with hotel rules or as directed by management. Remains visible to hotel guests at all times Assist with Resort Activities, Recreation, and Events. Successfully complete weekly continuing in-service training requirements and participate in routine observation and skills audits to ensure ongoing proficiency. Performs other duties as assigned

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization or able to obtain prior to employment. Must be at least 16 years of age. Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance as an integral function of the job. Possess ability to work independently and follow instructions. A professional appearance and positive, can-do attitude with team focus. Ability to remain calm and make appropriate decisions in emergency situations Working conditions may include extreme temperatures and sun exposure as well as work in extreme weather conditions (i.e. rain, wind, dust storms.) Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. Proficient swimming skills with the ability to perform rescues if necessary. Excellent guest service skills as well as strong communication skills for effective interaction with guests and team members.

PREFERRED

Current Lifeguard certification from a recognized organization. One-year experience as a Lifeguard preferred, but not required Previous experience in pool operations Experience in a similar resort setting.
