https://fairviewparkrec.activityreg.com/selectActivity?nLeaguesId=3678 Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment for all patrons at the Gemini Center. This position provides active supervision of the pool area, enforces facility rules, and responds quickly and effectively to emergencies to ensure the safety of all guests. Lifeguards also assist with daily facility operations, including basic cleaning and setup tasks, while providing friendly and professional customer service Duties Actively monitor aquatic areas and maintain constant surveillance to ensure patron safety. Enforce all facility rules and regulations in a consistent and courteous manner. Identify and correct hazardous behaviors or unsafe conditions proactively. Respond immediately and appropriately to all emergencies, incidents, and alarms. Administer first aid, CPR, and rescue techniques as certified and required. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the facility's Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and follow it accurately during drills and real incidents. Maintain effective communication with aquatics staff and supervisors. Provide excellent customer service by greeting patrons, answering questions about facility operations, schedules, and programs. Complete accident and incident reports thoroughly and promptly. Perform daily cleaning tasks and routine facility maintenance when not on surveillance duty. Attend and actively participate in all required in-service training and staff meetings. Always maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude. Assist with special events, swim lessons, or facility rentals as needed.
Maintain minimum scheduling expectations:
at least two shifts per week and two weekend shifts per month (Friday-Sunday). Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.
Qualification Requirements:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or equivalent nationally recognized certification) Must be at least 15 years old (or specify local age requirement) Ability to remain alert and act swiftly in emergency situations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong judgment and decision-making skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededSkills Proven lifeguard experience with current certification in First Aid, CPR, AED operation, and water rescue techniques. Strong swimming ability with experience teaching swimming skills across different age groups. Background in sports coaching or physical education instruction with knowledge of soccer coaching, basketball training, climbing activities, martial arts (karate, judo), or similar disciplines. Excellent communication skills to effectively teach children and interact with clients of diverse backgrounds. Experience working with children or students in educational or recreational settings. Ability to lead team activities confidently while demonstrating leadership qualities. Familiarity with health club environments or gym experience is a plus.
Pay:
$17.00 per hour Expected hours: 4.0 - 29.0 per week
