Part-Time Housekeeper Historic Blakeley State Park Spanish Fort, AL Job Details Part-time | Contract $250
$850 a week 14 hours ago Qualifications Lifting Driver's License Driving Bed linen changing Hospitality housekeeping Full Job Description Overview Blakeley is hiring a part-time housekeeper to help us keep our cabins, wedding facility, and public restrooms clean and ready for guests.
This job requires working a rotating schedule with other cleaners so that all facilities are maintained in readiness seven days a week. Pay is per job (cleaned cabin, wedding setup, bathroom cleaned, etc...) with different assignments each day. Historic Blakeley State Park is a large (2,100 acres) heritage and recreational facility located in Spanish Fort, AL offering multiple rentable venues and ticketing events for our growing visitorship. We have a team atmosphere and are looking for someone who is able to make Blakeley their employment priority and would like steady part-time work in a unique atmosphere. We cannot work around other employer schedules as some of our facilities must be cleaned at certain times. Please read a short summary of a few basics about the open position which will hopefully answer several important questions applicants will need to know before applying:
This position primarily handles three key aspects of park operations: 1) cleaning rental cabins, 2) cleaning park bathrooms, and 3) cleaning and set-up/take-down for weddings and other events at the park's event center. The job includes a range of standard cleaning duties from washing linens, cleaning floors and surfaces, to wash-down of showers and bathrooms.
Contractors will work a rotating schedule as part of a team of part-time contractors; generally this involves being on call no more than 4 days per week, sometimes as few as two, and no more than two weekends per month.
We need people with a flexible schedule who can be on call to perform duties on the date and time assigned
this position is well suited for those seeking part-time work or holding other jobs that allow for customizable hours. Sorry, we cannot work around another employer schedule as we must have our rental facilities ready at standard times every day.
Most work days involve tasks taking 2 to 4 hours, but duties are dependent upon rental volume.
While there are a few jobs that can be done at a time of your choosing, some have strict time limits. Check out for our cabins is 11 AM and check in is 4 PM, for example. Any cabin that needs to be cleaned and have linens washed must be attended to within those times. There are a few important deadlines for event center setup as well. These are non-negotiable.
Cabins and event center cleaning is dependent upon rental bookings, which are not consistent week over week. Some months and seasons are heavier in volume than others. Bathroom cleaning is done on a regular schedule, however.
Contractors may come and go as needed during the day they are on call if necessary as long as scheduled services are completed on time.
The park is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There will be a few occasions on holidays where cleaning is required if we have rentals that must be prepped. This is usually minimal, however.
This is a contracted part-time position, not a state park regular staff position. It does not come with a benefits package
Pay is by the project (cabin, bathroom, and event center, etc). Our rates are non-negotiable. We welcome inquiries from those who own cleaning companies, but keep in mind that we have set rates for contractors and cannot negotiate using your current rates on other jobs, whether higher or lower.
Cleaners are paid weekly. We offer fair and competitive rates for cleaning per cabin, per bathroom, and per setup and cleaning for events. Special events outside the scope of normal operations are handled case by case.
All contractors must submit a W9 prior to employment and have valid driver license and reliable transportation.
The park is large (over 2,000 acres), and cleaners will have as much as a mile and a half drive from the park gate to some (but not all) locations. All washers/dryers are located in the washroom at the park entrance so trips to and from the washhouse may be required during the course of a day.
This job does not involve very much heavy lifting, but cleaners must be able to lift large garbage bags, carry laundry baskets, cleaning supplies, and so on.
