Job Description

SUMMARY Provide a sanitary, safe and orderly environment for our residents and staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, nursing home common areas and offices including but not limited to: furniture, windows, window sills, doors, walls, handrails, mirrors, sinks, toilets, bathing areas, bedrails, beds, mattresses, towel racks and holders, commodes, urinals, equipment, vents, light fixtures, curtains, and blinds. Prevent the spread of disease-causing organisms by keeping resident care equipment clean and properly stored. Using the chemical stations to prepare mop water and cleaning supplies needed to perform the assigned tasks. Maintain knowledge of Valley Vista Care safety policies and procedures. Wear the appropriate PPE required for the task being completed. Keep housekeeping cart stocked with needed supplies to complete task. Ensure housekeeping cart is locked when not in use. Must dust, sweep/vacuum, and mop the areas as assigned. Required to clean and sanitize spills and splashes of blood or other bodily fluid as needed by following proper infection control procedures and ensuring compliance with the OSHA Blood Borne Pathogen Standards. Maintain an adequate supply of soap, towels, toilet tissue, and garbage can liners in the areas needed. Spot clean carpets and upholstered furniture. Ensure breakrooms are cleaned including but not limited to: tables, floors, microwaves, refrigerators and freezers. Defrost refrigerators and freezers when needed. Report any safety hazards to the supervisor or maintenance staff. Empty trash and waste to disposal area. Fill hand sanitizer dispensers, ensure "use by" dates are followed and appropriate logs are kept. Comply with facility policies regarding secure storage of chemicals, supplies and equipment. This includes but is not limited to: locking of supply rooms and housekeeping carts, securing equipment when not in use and proper labeling of chemicals and supplies. Ensure equipment cords are managed so they do not create tripping hazard. Comply with HIPPA regulations. Notify supervisor when floors need stripped/waxed or when carpets need shampooed.
QUALIFICATIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read a limited number of two
  • and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES
The employee may be exposed to blood-borne pathogens classified by CDC as: Category 2-Activity performed without blood exposure but exposure may occur in emergency. Category 3-Task/activity does not entail predictable or unpredictable exposure to blood.
