LOCATION

The 93,000 square foot Mansion House is a National Historic Landmark constructed between 1861 and 1914. It is owned and operated by Oneida Community Mansion House (OCMH). OCMH is a non-profit educational organization chartered in 1987 by the New York State Board of Regents. The building houses a museum, residential apartments, overnight lodging, and banquet and meeting space. The total property encompasses 200 acres, including the Oneida Community Cemetery, historic gardens and grounds, and the country's first corporate golf course.

PURPOSE :

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness of the overnight guest rooms, museum spaces, and public areas of the Mansion House. Previous hospitality cleaning experience as well as the ability to communicate with guests and co-workers is required.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR

: This position reports to the Director of Hospitality and requires contact with other staff, residents, volunteers, and the public.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Adhere to all standard policies and procedures as established at OCMH. Perform all activities in a cordial, efficient, and professional manner, at all times maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction. Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with management and fellow associates in all OCMH departments. Maintain a positive attitude toward OCMH, co-workers and the job being performed.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Clean, sanitize, and remake overnight guest rooms for guest stayovers and departures. Change and wash bedding and linens, clean floors, walls, windows, furniture, bathrooms, and fixtures. Overall cleaning will include dusting, vacuuming, and mopping. Appropriately report maintenance needs as encountered in the guest rooms and throughout the facility. Clean common areas and museum areas to provide the optimal guest experience. Clean, disinfect, and store all cleaning equipment and supplies at the end of their shift. Process laundry on-site from overnight guest rooms and meeting spaces. Maintain the overnight guest breakfast bar as needed. Setup, maintain and clean up daily based on scheduling needs.

Maintain and restock supplies needed for guest areas as well as housekeeping tasks. Strong guest service orientation in order to ensure high guest expectations Must be able to interact positively with guests and provide high-quality customer service.

Ability to work independently and responsibly, as well as part of a team. Reliable transportation to and from work. Must be able to bend, lift at least 30 lbs, walk up and down multiple stairs, and stand for long periods. May perform other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE

OCMH functions 7 days a week and may have varying hours based on the season. All associates must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to change an associate from their usual shift as business needs change.
