The Opportunity We are hiring two culinary specialists who will each focus on their area of expertise while contributing to the overall success of the kitchen:
Pastry Chef:
Focus on baking, confectionery, and dessert production for all resort dining outlets and special events.
Line Cook:
Focus on hot/cold line execution, prep, and plating for à la carte and banquets. General Job Explanation & Responsibilities The primary goal for both roles is to flawlessly plan, prep, set up, and execute the highest quality food production, adhering strictly to plating guides and 5-star sanitation standards .
Key Duties & Professional Standards:
Flawless Execution:
Plan, prepare, and set up your station with speed and precision, ensuring all mise en place, tools, and equipment meet Rough Creek standards before service begins.
Quality Control:
Maintain complete knowledge of all recipes and menu items. Utilize all your senses to ensure consistency and quality control is met for every plate that leaves your station.
Sanitation & Organization:
Strictly abide by all state health regulations and department requirements. Maintain exceptional cleanliness and organization of all work areas, equipment, and storage areas throughout and after the shift.
Inventory & Communication:
Accurately manage inventory, communicate product needs and low stock items to the Chef, and properly store, label, and rotate all product according to FIFO principles.
Team Collaboration:
Work cohesively with the entire culinary and stewarding team, directing and assisting where needed to ensure smooth, efficient operations during all meal periods.
Guest Service:
Maintain a friendly, caring, and professional demeanor, greeting guests and working collaboratively with all departments to ensure smooth operations throughout the resort. Essential Requirements & Candidate Profile We are looking for individuals who view the kitchen as a place of precision and teamwork.
Experience:
A minimum of six months of experience as a Line Cook or Pastry focus in a high-volume, quality-driven restaurant or luxury hotel is required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs to an overhead position. Ability to work a demanding shift (up to 15 hours) in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment. Ability to perform abundant physical movements, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the work areas.
Work Ethic:
Ability to work well under the pressure of tight timelines, maintain good coordination, and function as a clear thinker who can calmly resolve problems using good judgment.
Skills:
Ability to comprehend, follow, expand, and condense recipes. Must possess basic mathematical and accounting skills.
Availability:
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the luxury resort's business demands.
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent, plus certification of culinary training or apprenticeship . Compensation & Benefits We believe in rewarding top culinary talent with a structure that reflects skill and dedication.
Competitive Wages:
Starting pay will commensurate with skill level and experience , with a guaranteed minimum hourly rate of $16 per hour .
