Job Description

BUS MONITOR - DISTRICT

JOB CLASS #7942, 4 HOURS/180 DAYS

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate

2. Participates in and successfully completes training programs as specified by the Kentucky Department of Education and local district.

3. Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

4. Must meet the requirements for a criminal record check as specified by Kentucky state law.

5. Has met health requirements as specified in district personnel policy.

REPORTS TO

Director of Transportation/Program Coordinator

JOB GOAL

To assist in providing safe transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest possible advantage from the district's curriculum and extracurricular program.

1.0 GENERAL

KNOWLEDGE BASE
Knowledge Of:

1.1 Safe practices concerning school bus transportation.

1.2 Basic record-keeping techniques.

1.3 Applicable sections of the KAR and other applicable laws.

1.4 Health and safety regulations.

2.0 ESSENTIAL

JOB FUNCTIONS
Ability To:

2.1 Maintain proper records and documentation.

2.2 Assist student loading, unloading, and seating arrangements as required.

2.3 Understand and relate to children with special needs.

2.4 Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

2.5 Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

2.6 Lift students according to established guidelines.

2.7 Maintain current knowledge of Emergency Evacuation procedures.

2.8 Maintain routine records.

2.9 Observe health and safety regulations.

3.0 PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.

3.2 Assists young or disabled students in getting on and off the bus.

3.3 Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly fashion.

3.4 Provides written records of violations of the student code to the transportation supervisor.

3.5 Collects and turns over to the school secretary those personal items left on the bus by students.

3.6 Performs related duties as assigned.
