Professional Staff Job Description Summary:
The Bus Rider is responsible for providing a clean, safe and reliable transportation for participants of the program. They will collaborate with bus drivers and school district personnel to ensure safe student participation in all programming activities.
Job Description:
Job Responsibilities Collaborate with KCKPS Transportation bus drivers to provide clean, safe, and reliable transportation services that support student participation in programming activities. Communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with school district personnel, students, families, and community members. Ensure that only authorized program participants ride the bus, using the provided student roster. Program instructors and staff may also ride the bus for field trips or other approved activities. Maintain appropriate student behavior and discipline while students are on the bus, reporting behavioral concerns to the appropriate personnel when necessary. Adhere to all KCKPS Transportation policies, procedures, safety protocols, and operational guidelines. Partner with bus drivers to anticipate and respond to challenges such as traffic, weather conditions, road closures, and schedule adjustments to ensure student safety and minimize delays. Instruct students on safe boarding, exiting, and passenger conduct procedures. Supervise students as they board and exit the bus and while crossing streets to ensure their safety. Assist bus drivers with emergency evacuation procedures when situations require immediate action. Coordinate with KCKPS Transportation personnel regarding morning and afternoon bus assignments and routes. Required Qualifications Work Experience:
Two (2) years of related work experience. Experience working with various populations.
Preferred Qualifications Language:
Bilingual language proficiency.
Work Experience:
Previous bus riding or driver experience, district school bus driver, etc. Previous experience with K-12 students. Skills Communication. Interpersonal skills.

Hourly Compensation Statement:
The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
