Job Summary The Bus Aide plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during transportation to and from school. This position involves assisting the bus driver in managing student behavior, providing support to students with special needs, and fostering a positive environment on the bus. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and possess strong communication and conflict management skills. Duties Assist the bus driver in ensuring the safe loading and unloading of students. Monitor student behavior to promote a safe and respectful environment. Provide support to students with special needs, including those requiring behavioral management. Implement first aid procedures when necessary and respond to emergencies effectively. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff regarding any issues or concerns. Help manage conflicts among students in a constructive manner. Maintain a clean and organized bus environment. Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to understand individual student needs. Requirements Experience working with children. Knowledge of first aid practices and certification is a plus. Familiarity with special education principles and practices is desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff. Ability to manage classroom-like behavior on the bus, including conflict resolution skills. Previous experience in teaching or classroom settings is beneficial. Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children's development.
