Job Description

Marana Detention Center | Marana, AZ $29.41 per hour | Full-time Responsible for developing safe, structured recreational opportunities that support detainee wellness while maintaining strict security oversight. The role blends program coordination, behavioral management, and compliance with detention standards, requiring both technical recreation skills and correctional-environment readiness in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives. Plan, organize, and oversee daily recreation programs including sports, fitness, games, and leisure activities appropriate for a secure environment. Evaluate detainee recreation needs and adjust programming to promote rehabilitation, positive behavior, and personal development. Implement therapeutic or structured activities to support mental and physical well-being. Oversee the preparation of a variety of well-planned recreation activities including individual and team sports, special interest programs and others. Manage the development and distribution of weekly, monthly, and annual recreational plans and activities schedules. Control use of equipment and supplies; make minor repairs and recommend purchases. Provide information regarding special and scheduled activities. Maintain accurate inventory of supplies and recreational equipment Requires long periods of walking, standing, and physical activity. What you will need High school diploma or GED, three (3) years' experience in the coordination of recreation activities US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required. Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education or related field highly desired. Must successfully complete required preservice training.
