The position requires the individual to easily engage with community members in a way that promotes continued usage of facilities and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, develop, and implement sport and recreation programs to ensure that activities and events are made available for all tribal and community members Oversee community usage of the fitness center Explain principles, techniques, and safety procedures of the facility and activities to participants and demonstrate use of materials and equipment. Ascertain and interpret group interests, evaluate equipment and facilities, and adapt activities to meet participant needs. Assist management in resolving complaints. Communicate to the Community Coordinator regarding incidents, decisions, and issues about activities, events, or programs. Responsible for the completion and filing of accident and statistical reports regarding incidents and issues about programs, as required. Maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner. Ensure Tribal community policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are strictly enforced; respond to and resolve complaints; advise and assist individuals and groups on related recreational problems. Maintain awareness of new program developments and offer suggestions to the Community Coordinator Attend meetings as assigned. Assist with other recreation programs and community events, as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of recreation, sport, and leisure program administration, management, and delivery. Knowledge of coaching theory and practice. Knowledge of emergency procedures, First Aid, and CPR Effective verbal and listening communication skills. Effective written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports. Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity Demonstrate a dedication to the position and the Tribal community Ability to work occasional weekends and an irregular schedule as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate must be energetic, organized, apply good judgment, and have a genuine interest in the community we serve. First Aid /CPR Certification or willingness to obtain. Food Handler's Card or willingness to obtain. Must have an Arizona Driver's license Must pass DPS/FBI fingerprint background investigation; must not have 2 misdemeanors or a felony. Applicant must be age 18 or older at the time of hire;
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma, or equivalent, is required. Associate's degree in a related field is preferred; completion of trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training 2 years of work experience in a related field.
