Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Activities Assistant to enrich the lives of residents in our senior living community. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for engaging seniors through meaningful activities and recreational programs, with a strong background in event planning, resident engagement, and geriatric care. As an Activities Assistant, you will coordinate and facilitate diverse recreational activities designed to promote socialization, mental stimulation, and overall well-being. This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on residents' quality of life while working within a supportive team environment. Duties Plan, organize, and implement engaging activities tailored to residents' interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific programs. Coordinate resident events such as outings, celebrations, and therapeutic activities that foster community involvement and resident rapport building. Assist with daily activities of living (ADLs) by providing companionship and support to residents during recreational sessions. Develop new programs that promote cognitive health, physical activity, and social interaction for seniors with diverse needs. Maintain detailed records of participation, resident preferences, and activity outcomes to inform ongoing program development. Collaborate with caregiving staff and healthcare professionals to ensure activities align with individual care plans and aging issues counseling. Manage schedule planning for activities across shifts, ensuring consistent engagement opportunities for all residents. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for documentation, scheduling, and communication with team members and families. Experience Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable. Extensive knowledge of geriatrics, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, and memory care best practices. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative recreational therapy programs tailored to seniors' needs. Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities or in long-term care settings is preferred. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction, team collaboration, and resident rapport building. Familiarity with home & community care services and senior living facility operations is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for scheduling, documentation, and reporting purposes. Experience leading or coordinating team efforts in a senior care setting is beneficial.
