Job Description

Job Summary The Newton YMCA is seeking a dependable, welcoming, and organized Welcome Center Lead to support daily front-desk operations and help create a positive experience for members, guests, and visitors by fostering a welcoming environment for all. The Welcome Center Lead reports to the branch director and provides leadership and support to all welcome center staff. This position may work variable hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, based on operational needs. The lead will also work collaboratively with other departments to promote community engagement and facility growth. Responsibilities
  • Provide friendly, professional service to members, guests, and visitors.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Welcome Center staff.
  • Help create and maintain the weekly Welcome Center staff schedule.
  • Train and support new and current Welcome Center employees.
  • Assist with daily opening, closing, and front-desk procedures.
  • Answer phones and provide information about memberships, programs, schedules, and facility policies.
  • Process memberships, registrations, payments, and account updates accurately.
  • Address member questions and concerns and refer issues to the directors when appropriate.
  • Help ensure the Welcome Center is clean, organized, and operating efficiently.
  • Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Support membership initiatives, special events, and other YMCA activities as needed. Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Previous customer service, front-desk, or leadership experience preferred. YMCA experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and support staff effectively.
  • Comfortable using computers and handling financial transactions.
  • Dependable, professional, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to work variable hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to the YMCA's mission and a welcoming experience for all.
  • Current or obtain Basic Life Support (CPR/AED), First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications. Essential Functions
  • Ensure compliance with all YMCA Emergency Action Plan items.
  • Maintain adequate staffing through recruiting, hiring, and training.
  • Conduct regular in-service training.
  • Implement, track, and manage the welcome center guidelines.
  • Foster positive relationships with participants, parents, guardians, and staff, demonstrating empathy in challenging situations. Cause-Driven Leadership Competencies

    Responsibly manage resources and ensure sustainability of the YMCA's nonprofit model. Required Certifications
  • Required Certifications:
    Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer CPR/AED, First Aid, Emergency Oxygen
