Job Description

Camp Sharing Meadows is hiring counselors for our fall weekend camps. Each camp is just a 1-3 day commitment and a great way to make some extra $ while providing a life

One weekend (Friday at 5:30 PM

•Sunday at 3:00 PM)

Central Time Zone Dates Needed:

•Ideally, we are looking for counselors who can attend the entire camp, including staying overnight, but we will gladly accept staff for part of the camp or just the daytime as well

•pay will be dependent on hours worked. 1. October 16-18, 2026 2. November 13-15, 2026

Pay:

$175 for the full weekend, plus all meals (Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Sunday breakfast and lunch), snacks, housing and fun activities provided

Who We Are:

o The Share Foundation is a privately funded Christian non-profit that provides faith-based independent living and camp experiences for our adult friends with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Camp Sharing Meadows is an inclusive Christian camp for adult campers with disabilities, where a vibrant blend of community, faith, and creative exploration takes focus. Our camp provides 5 weeks of overnight summer camp plus weekend camps throughout the year for other-abled adults. Campers have the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities, make lasting friendships, and grow spiritually.

Our Core Values are:

S ervant Leadership H umility A ccountability R espect E veryone Matters o Our camp is comprised of approximately 25-30 campers each weekend, plus about 10 counselors, multiple cooks, and a nurse. Daily camp programming is facilitated by the Camp Coordinator and overseen by the Camp Director. 2.

Qualifications:

No experience is necessary to be a camp counselor, though previous camp, ministry, or special needs experience is helpful. Training is provided during a mandatory staff training prior to camper arrival, as well as on-the-job training.

A camp counselor must:

o Demonstrate patience and tolerance for other-abled adults with a wide range of abilities and needs. o Be able to physically provide personal care, including possibly transferring, bathing, dressing, hygiene, and feeding for adult campers. o Possess a great attitude at all times and be a role model for our campers. o Be able to be engaged with our campers during all activities, including crafts, meals, campfires, hikes, faith-based value sessions, dances, sports/ games, and more. o Possess strong communication, organization, and critical thinking skills o Be 17+ years of age o Pass a background check 3.

Responsibilities:

Each counselor is assigned to a group of approximately 3-4 campers that they are responsible for, depending on needs of the camper. Counselor responsibilities include, but are not limited to: o Be an available, understanding, and compassionate companion for the campers. o Be present and engaged during all camp activities, including leading activities throughout each day, preparing for activities, and cleaning up as needed. o Provide hands-on teaching during activities to support growth and independence. o Adapt activities and support for the varying needs of campers, including communication, social skills, physical limitation, and self-care skills. o Assist campers as needed with personal care, including verbal reminders, and full physical support in tasks such as bathing, toileting, toothbrushing, and dressing as needed. o Assist and supervise campers during mealtimes to ensure all campers dietary restrictions are followed and to reduce choking risks. o Along with the other counselors, camp management, kitchen staff, and camp nurse, ensure all aspects of campers' livelihood are cared for, including nutrition, quality of life, medication and health, spirituality, and safety.
