Fair Hills is an all-inclusive resort, offering daily recreational activities for guests of all ages. Our recreation staff often serves as the face of the resort, building relationships and creating experiences that keep guests returning year after year. As a Recreation Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience leading activities for children, youth, and families. This internship is ideal for college students pursuing a degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or Pre-K-12 General Education. You'll work with three age groups: 4-8, 8-14, and 14-19, while also planning and leading family-oriented activities and staff team-building events. What You'll Do Lead daily activities such as arts & crafts, sports, music, dramatics, and games Plan, organize, and execute multiple age-appropriate activities each day Lead evening family-oriented activities Supervise children and youth while ensuring safety and proper facility use Adapt activities to meet participant needs Administer basic first aid if needed Collaborate with a partner intern, the recreation team, and the Recreation Director What You'll Gain This internship emphasizes developing skills in: Organizing detailed events and schedules Giving clear instruction and motivating participants Maintaining safety and order Communicating effectively with children, parents, partners, and team members Adapting plans on the fly to changing conditions Requirements A successful Recreation Intern should be: Flexible and adaptable Physically fit for active work throughout the day Comfortable leading activities for all ages Willing to step in wherever needed to ensure a smooth operation Fair Hills Resort is a family vacation destination and special events venue. Owned and operated by the Kaldahl family since 1926, our beautiful lakeside resort and its accompanying properties offer a unique environment for events and vacations. Open seasonally from May through the end of September, Fair Hills hosts over 50 events each year and 10 weeks of all-inclusive family vacations. Fair Hills offers opportunities to gain experience in a variety of divisions across multiple industries, mainly pertaining to Hospitality, Business and Golf. Fair Hills has a rich history and tradition rooted in music. One of the most well known events at the resort is the Hootenanny show on Tuesday nights. Performed by our very own staff, the Hootenanny is a favorite to all to be involved in or watch! We encourage all our staff to be involved in the Hootenanny as it is the longest running musical in the upper midwest and an integral way to bond with your fellow staff! Whether you are musically inclined or not, the Hootenanny is for everyone. Fair Hills also offers other talent outlets; Staff vs. Guest volleyball, Staff Talent Show, Karaoke, Yoga & Fitness Classes, etc. We love to showcase the talents and skills of the team!
