JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking an energetic and compassionate Recreation/Activities Coordinator to lead engaging programs and events that enhance the quality of life for our residents. This dynamic role involves planning, organizing, and executing a variety of recreational activities tailored to meet the diverse needs of seniors. The ideal candidate will foster a vibrant community atmosphere, build meaningful resident rapport, and promote overall well-being through creative programming. SUMMARY - Plan and coordinate comprehensive and diverse programs and activities to provide life-enriching opportunities for residents and the community. Strengthen community involvement through promotion of volunteerism among residents and members of the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB 1.
Plan and implement activities in the following categories:
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Plan and implement activities in the following areas: physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual/educational, creative, entertainment, service/volunteering and special requests of the residents. 2. Facilitate socialization among residents. 3. Invite and/or remind residents to participate in planned activities. 4. Promote activities in a way that piques residents' interest. 5. Conduct/Lead activities as needed. 6. Plan, coordinate and help implement decoration of the facility for special events, seasons and holidays. 7. Identify and requisition needed supplies for planned activities. 8. Coordinate with the kitchen staff use of kitchen 9. Assist with planning and implementing marketing events that promote the facility to potential resident/community. 10. Develop a monthly newsletter, solicit resident involvement. 11. Coordinate schedule for the company vehicle. 12. Maintain a schedule for use of the common areas. 13. Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips. 14. Recruit resident volunteers to meet the needs of the facility and other organizations in the community. 15. Train and supervise volunteers. 16. Establish and carry out a resident volunteer recognition program. 17. Maintain and update closed circuit TV system. 18. Contact/meet with new tenants within 2 weeks of move-in to review recreational interests. 19. Maintain statistics of program attendance and develop reports on program effectiveness. 20. Develop a resource manual to include event information, i.e. speakers, flyers, contact info etc. 21. Prepare monthly expenditure report. 22. Schedule annual mandatory safety meetings, one for police and one for fire. 23. Attend staff meetings as required. 24. Carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor to ensure smooth operation of the program and to meet residents' needs.

Report any on-the-job injuries to the supervisor before the end of the work shift on the day the injury occurs. 2. Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with coworkers, residents, families and visitors. 3. Maintain confidentiality of verbal and written information pertaining to residents, facility operations and personnel. 4. No smoking in the building or while operating any and all equipment. 5. Promote Westfield Senior Citizens Housing Corporation in a positive way. 6. Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPECTATIONS 1.

WORKING 1.
Adhere to and carry out all policies and procedures. 2. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Publisher and willingness to learn new software as required.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Associate degree in recreational therapy or similar degree preferred 2. Experience in activity planning with older adults preferred 3. Experience and interest in working with older adults 4. Experience in volunteering 5. Evidence of creativity 6. Demonstrated organizational skills 7. Mature, pleasant, friendly and cheerful personality
WORKING CONDITIONS 1.
Heated/Air-conditioned, well-lit facility with minimal barriers 2. Some weekend/evening work as assigned 3. Working hours 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with 1 hour for lunch - M, W, F
STANDARDS 1.
Residents always come first, and their needs will be met unless there is a conflict with the needs of others or the organization as a whole. 2. Employees will not work under the influence of mood-altering or illegal drugs or alcohol. 3. Neat appearance, adherence to the dress code and good personal hygiene are expected.
