Position Information Requisition Number Stu801P Position Type Student Worker Department Department of Student Workers Job Title Student Worker - Environment Geosciences and Emergency Management Academic Year 2026-27 Classification Student Worker Pay Rate Starting rate $9.00/hr Position Summary Information Hours per week Up to 20 hrs/week; average ~5hrs/week Days Worked Flexible Hours/Shift worked Flexible Posting Detail Information Job Summary/Basic Function EGEM Students work as Office Assistants in the department office. They may also serve as drivers for departmental field trips or offer assistance to faculty members when needed. Required Qualifications A major in the Department of Environment, Geosciences, and Emergency Management Department. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Ability to use office telephone, including answering calls, initiating calls, transferring calls, placing calls on hold, and taking messages. Ability to use department copier/printer/scanner, including filling paper and replacing toner and staple cartridges. Excellent communication skills. Must complete 3 required clearances (PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprints) Must complete driver's license background check if willing to drive university vehicle. Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working in an office setting Customer service skills Computer skills (Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.) Job Duties Tasks may include but are not limited to: Student Office Assistants support the day-to-day operations and work independently and/or as a team to accomplish the overall mission and goals of the office. May make deliveries around campus, dropping off and picking up materials to and from other departments. Copy, print and scan documents when necessary. Perform specific duties and provide assistance when requested. Answer telephone calls, transferring them, and/or taking messages. Stay connected with other EGEM office assistants to communicate necessary information and tasks. May Escort Visitors to the Department Offices or other campus locations. May drive for departmental field trips if willing May offer assistance to faculty when requested Working Conditions and Physical Effort Be able to sit and use a computer for the length of shift Be able to make deliveries & pickups on campus Be able to use department photocopier Posting Open Date 08/25/2026 Posting Close Date 06/12/2027 Special Instructions to Applicants Previous experience is not required.
